Blog Tour M+L de Angela Morrison: Entrevista en inglés
Como parte del tour M+L de Angela Morrison, dejo con ustedes la entrevista que realice pero solo en inglés mañana subo la entrevista traducida.Blog Tour M+L de Angela Morrison: Entrevista en inglés Angela first tell us something about you.
I'm the author of TAKEN BY STORM (Books 1-3) and SING ME TO SLEEP, a GoodReads Choice Nominee for YA Fiction. I love writing YA, and its thrilling so many people are reading YA these days. Thank you, TWILIGHT! I grew up in Tekoa, Washington on the farm where Leesie lives in TAKEN BY STORM. I was living far away in London, Ontario (setting for SING ME TO SLEEP) and was so homesick! We've lived all around the world. From Canada, we moved to Switzerland and then to Singapore and now we're back in Arizona. We live in Mesa on the edge of the Sonoran Desert. Yes, we get scorpions, rattlesnakes, coyotes, and even bobcats. But I would trade our sunsets for anywhere else in the world.
How did the idea for Taken by Storm come to you?
My husband and I were scuba diving off the coast of Cozumel, Mexico when we heard that a dive boat had got caught in a hurricane and capsized. Everyone drowned. As divers, we were shaken by the tragedy. I went home and followed the story online. Then I started asking myself, "What if?" What if a guy was on that boat and his parents and all his friends drowned, but he didn't. What would he do? Where would he go? And who would love him? The answers to those questions became TAKEN BY STORM.
Did you have to do any research on anything before writing the trilogy?
Lots of research on all kinds of things. I researched everything from Grand Coulee dam and the Native Americans who live on a reservation across from it to Kellog, Idaho where Leesie ends up in the hospital to scuba diving in Thailand and off the Burma Banks. Michael is a scuba diver, but he also free dives. Free diving, holding your breath when you dive, is very different from scuba. My husband and I took a certification course in free diving so I could get that part of Michael perfect. Many places we traveled and dove ended up in the books. My favorite dive destination is Grand Cayman--hence CAYMAN SUMMER.
How did you decided to write 3 book, or the characters take the decision.
I only planned to write one book about Michael and Leesie, but when I finished TAKEN BY STORM, Michael and Leesie would stop talking in my head. I know I'm done. They don't wake me up in the middle of the night arguing anymore. I miss them.
The faith is the big subject in the trilogy, why did you decided to include in the story.
Faith is a big part of my life, so it made its way into my fiction. I find it impossible to keep it out!
Why you chose the Mormon religion over other.
I'm a Mormon, so I can portray the Mormon faith accurately and in a way authors who only talk to people who used to be Mormons can't. As far as I have seen, Leesie is the ONLY faithful Mormon teen girl who made it to the pages of a major publisher's national release. And she is by far the most authentic.
About Leesie,  how you create your rules.
Those are the rules I was taught growing up and rules I've taught my own kids and young people I've taught over the years at church. Mormon teens have a card with the rules from the book and more guidelines that they carry in their wallets or purses. It's called "The Strength for Youth" card. It was fun to have Leesie hand Michael her "Strength for Youth" card when she's trying to explain her rules. I call them rules in the book, but they are really commandments.
About Michael, why you fall in love the girl that don't have sex.
In any other situation, I think Michael would have called it quits with Leesie after her speech about rules. But he isn't his normal self. He's devastated and broken. Leesie becomes an emotional life raft for him. He wants to be with her all the time. I think he falls in love with her, even without sex, because she wants to help him and falls deeply in love with him.
Will there be a sequel to trilogy Taken by Storm or a short story.
Nope! There is an extra poem called "Airport Good-bye" that fits between TAKEN BY STORM and UNBROKEN CONNECTION. You can find it on my website and GoodReads. I don't plan to write anymore about Michael and Leesie. I would have to do something terrible to one of them, and they've been through enough tragedy for two characters, so I'll leave them alone.
Do you have a new proyect in progress now.
My agent is marketing my romantic historical YA, MY ONLY LOVE, about a Scottish teenager who works in the coal mines with his family. He has to leave the girl he loves behind in Scotland when his father forces him to emigrate to North America. He vows he'll return to her. It's the same richly romantic tragedy as my other YA novels, but it takes you to the early 19th Century and mines in Scotland, Nova Scotia, and Pennsylvania. I hope to have exciting news about it soon.
Any you want to tell a Spanish-speakers fans
My agent is working hard to find a Spanish publisher for my books. I've heard from so many Spanish-speaking bloggers and readers who are uniquely tuned-in to my novels. I would love, love, love to have more Spanish readers be able to enjoy my novels.
Thanks Angela for the interview and  letting me participate in this blog tour I really appreciated.
