DIY, "hazlo tú mismo" II / Do It Yourself II

Hace unos meses me pidieron que participase en un estudio sobre el DIY que se está realizando en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. Hoy, la segunda parte del cuestionario que contesté (la primera aquí).
A few months ago I was asked to take part in a study about the DIY which is being made at the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona. Today, the second part of the questionnaire I answered (find the first one here). 


¿En qué momento pasó a ser algo más que una afición y decidiste crear el blog? En el momento en que dejó de ser una afición para convertirse en un trabajo. Me ocurrió antes de que se pusiese de moda. No fue hace mucho tiempo, pero en pocos años se ha producido un cambio brutal. Empecé a tener pedidos y tuve que elegir entre la abogacía y la aguja. El blog lo creé para compartir mi afición y dar a conocer mis creaciones.
When did you decide to create the blog? Just when it was no longer a hobby and went into a job. It happened before it become fashionable. It was not a lot of time ago, but in a few years a great change has taken place. I started to have sales orders and had to choose between the law and the needle. I created the blog to share my hobby and make my creations known.
¿Qué opinas del fenómeno DIY? ¿Crees que ha aumentado con la crisis? Sí, hay más tiempo libre y menos recursos y, por otro lado, muchas personas lo ven como una salida a su situación económica.
What do you think about the DIY phenomenon? Do you think that it has increased over the crisis? Yes, there is more free time and fewer resources and, on the other hand, many people see it as a way out of their economic situation. 
¿Tiene algo que ver con el reciclaje? Mucho, muchísimo. En España se tiraba todo, cosa que está cambiando por la situación económica.  Como soy ecologista estoy contenta con la influencia que el DIY está teniendo en el reciclaje.
Has it something that to do with the recycling? Sure, very much. In Spain everything was usually thrown, but this is changing because of the economic situation. As I am an ecologist I am glad with the influence that DIY is having on  recycling. 
¿Qué materiales suelen utilizarse? De todo. Aparte de lo que puedas comprar yo guardo botes de cristal, cajas de cartón, cintas, botones, tapones, retales,… Mi hija tiene trece años y es mi espejo: con cualquier cosa hace una manualidad. Me sorprende todo lo que hace y me siento muy orgullosa de haberle transmitido esa tendencia a la creatividad y el reciclaje.
What materials are commonly used? Everything. Apart from what you could buy, I keep glass jars, cardboard boxes, ribbons, buttons, stoppers, scraps, … My daughter is thirteen and she is my mirror: she makes a craft with anything. I am amazed at everything she does and I feel very proud of having conveyed  to her that trend towards creativity and recycling.
