¿Cómo es Montessori en Primaria? ¿Cómo es el niño en esta etapa?

Entre los 6 y los 7 años, el niño pasa al segundo plano del desarrollo y se producen cambios importantes en su manera de aprender y relacionarse con el mundo:

• Pasa de la Mente Absorbente a la Mente Razonadora, de absorber información concreta a razonar sobre conceptos abstractos.
• Adquiere todo lo que tiene que ver con la cultura, mientras que en la etapa de 0 a 6 años su objetivo principal era adaptarse al ambiente.
• Tiene la necesidad de relacionarse con otros buscando alguna forma de actividad organizada.

Según las palabras de Maria Montessori, "en esta etapa se siembra la semilla de todo, pues la mente del niño es similar a un suelo fértil dispuesto a acoger lo que más adelante germinará en forma de cultura"

El niño necesita aprender a través de su propia actividad y la enseñanza debe consistir en responder a sus necesidades intelectuales, nunca en forzarlas. No es necesario elegir lo que tenemos que ofrecerle al niño, basta con poner a su alcance un amplio abanico de cultura para que satisfaga su apetito mental.

Posiblemente os estéis preguntando "¿Y cómo ponemos toda la cultura al alcance del niño?" Os contesto con otra pregunta: ¿Qué os parece si le damos una visión de todo el Universo?

Si la idea del Universo se presenta ante el niño de forma adecuada, no sólo despertaremos su interés, también su admiración y asombro, que son aún más fuertes que el interés y encenderán en él la chispa de la curiosidad. Los conocimientos que adquiera siempre estarán enmarcados dentro de la totalidad del Universo, y su inteligencia se organizará en torno a una visión global, haciendo que el niño se interese por todo, ya que todo está interconectado de alguna manera si lo analizamos desde esa visión global del Universo.

Éste es el fundamento de la Educación Cósmica, base del método Montessori en la etapa de Primaria (o Taller, como se llama a esta etapa en Montessori), de la que os iré hablando con más detalle a partir de ahora. Bienvenidos al segundo plano del desarrollo.

The child needs to learn through their own activity and education should mean meeting their intellectual needs, never forcing them. No need to choose what we have to offer the child, simply put at their disposal a wide range of culture to meet their mental appetite.

Perhaps you are wondering "And how do we manage to offer all the culture to the child?" Let me answer with aonther question: What if we give them an overview of the whole universe?

If the idea of ​​the Universe is presented to the child properly, not only we awaken their interest, but also their admiration and amazement, which are even stronger than interest in and ignite the spark of curiosity. The knowledge she gains will always be framed within the entire universe, and intelligence will be organized around a global vision, making the child interested in everything, as everything is connected in some way if we analyze it from this overview of the universe.
