First Position: Love at First Sight

¿Habéis visto First Position? Es un documental que muestra la vida de varios bailarines jóvenes de distintos orígenes y de edades comprendidas entre los 10 y los 17 años: Jules Fogarty (10); Aran Bell (11); Gaya Bommer Yemini (11); Miko Fogarty (12); Michaela DePrince (14); Joan Sebastian Zamora (16) y Rebecca Houseknecht (17).
Vemos cómo bailan y cómo se relajan. Tienen cuerpos musculosos, pero tienen que bailar con ligereza y gracia. Todas las historias tienen algún punto interesante, pero las dos que más me han conmovido son las de Joan Sebastian, un colombiano que vive en NYC lejos de su familia, y la de Rebecca, que consigue una nueva vida tras ser adoptada y trasladarse a Estados Unidos. También me resulta muy tierno Aran Bell, tan joven, y que tiene un aire a mi hijo. Mi “primera posición” deja bastante que desear, pero me encantan la pasión, la gracia y la energía de los bailarines de ballet. Si a tus hijos les gusta el ballet, probablemente les gustará este documental. También recomiendo para niños estos dos libros sobre el tema: The Nutcracker y The Swan Lake.

We see them dancing in the dance studios and relaxing at home. Their body is really muscular, but they have to use it to dance with grace. I was very moved by all of them. Joan Sebastian, who lives very far away from his family, or Rebecca, who has a new life when she moves to the US after being adopted. Aran Bell is also one of my favourite dancers, so young, he reminds me a bit of my own son. My “first position” leaves a lot to be desired, but I love seeing the passion, grace and energy of ballet dancers. If your children love ballet, they’ll probably like this ballet documentary. These children's books are great too: The Nutcracker and The Swan Lake.
