El pasado 13 de julio se dieron a conocer las nominaciones a los premios Primetime Emmy, los galardones presentados por la Academia de Artes y Ciencias de la Televisión, en reconocimiento a lo mejor del año en la programación televisiva estadounidense en horario primetime. Como mejor serie dramática, la producción de Netflix "Stranger Things" (que recientemente ha anunciado la fecha de estreno de su segunda temporada) competirá con "House of Cards", cuyos protagonistas Kevin Spacey y Robin Wright están nominados por sus papeles de Frank y Claire Underwood. Por lo que se refiere a las otras series de Netflix, "The Crown" y "Better Call Saul" también optan por el premio a mejor serie dramática, mientras que "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" lo hace como mejor serie de comedia.
Por otro lado, respecto a HBO, la polémica "The Handmaid's Tale" y "Big Little Lies" podrían ganar el Emmy a mejor serie dramática y mejor miniserie, respectivamente. "Feud", producida también por HBO y protagonizada por Susan Sarandon y Jessica Lange, pondrá a competir a las dos actrices como en sus papeles en la serie, en la cual las míticas Bette Davis y Joan Crawford luchan por tener el papel principal tanto en la vida real como en la ficción.
El próximo 17 de septiembre se celebrará la ceremonia de entrega de la 69ª edición de los Premios Emmy, que contará en esta ocasión con Stephen Colbert como maestro de ceremonias.
