State of affairs: the style.

Una serie americana cuyo estreno tuvo lugar en Estados Unidos el 17 de Noviembre de 2014 es la culpable de toda mi atención tanto de moda como de ocio. Su nombre, State of Affairs (Asuntos de Estado), una serie que promete y cuyo tema central es la CIA. / An american tv show whose premiere in the Unites States of America was on November 17 th 2014, is the responsabel of all my attention in fashion and as a hobby. Its name States of Affairs, a show that assure you intrige whose main theme is the CIA. 

La historia. / The story.
Una analista de la CIA, Charleston Tucker, se encarga de informar de las noticias y asuntos de seguridad del día a la Presidenta de Estados Unidos, Roberta Payton. Sus funciones conllevan decisiones políticas y morales llevadas acabo por ella y por su equipo de análisis. / A CIA analyst, Charleston Tucker, is in charge of inform to the President of teh United States, Roberta Payton, with the daily press briefing. The task requires political and moral decisions by her and her analyst team.


A todo ello hay que sumarle la relación personal que tiene Charleston con la Presidenta, ya que estaba prometida con el hijo de esta, quien falleció en un ataque terrorista. Todo esto complica las cosas pero Charleston es muy profesional y hará lo posible para cometer sus funciones laborales. / Beyond all this it has to be added a personal relationship between Charleston and the President, having been engaged to marry the President's son, who died in a terrorist attack. All of this gets complicated but Charleston is so professional she would be full committed to her job. 

Los actores vs personajes. / The actors vs characters.
La protagonista es Katherine Heigl te sonara por la serie Anatomía de Grey o por 27 Vestidos. Katherine da vida a Charleston Tucker, la analista mas prestigiosa de la CIA que se encarga cada mañana de presentarle a la Presidenta de los Estados Unidos el boletín diario (PDB). Se trata de un documento secreto que se realiza todos los días con información de máxima importancia. Ademas de todo ello Charleston tiene una relación personal con la Presidenta. / The main actress is Katherine Heigl from Grey's Anatomy or for 27 Dreess. Katherine gives lives to Charleston Tucker, the top CIA analyst who assembles the President's Daily Briefing (PDB). This list of the most vital security issues facing the nation. She also has a a close personal relationship with President. 

Alfre Woodard es la Presidenta Constance Payton, la hemos visto en Mujeres Desesperadas. Cada día la Presidenta tiene que afrontar un sin fin de decisiones de vida y muerte y priorizar sobre las grandes crisis mundiales y de su país. A parte de ello, Cosntance se esta reponiendo del asesinato de su único hijo que fue asesinado en un ataque terrorista, por lo que Constance busca a toda costa castigar a los culpables. / Alfre Woodard is the Preseident Constance Payton, he had seen her in Desperate Housewives. Each day the president is faced with dozens of life-and-death decisions, and has to prioritize the biggest international crises facing her country. Aside, she is getting recover for the murder of her only son in a terrorist attack, she seeks at any price to punish the responsible.

Adam Kaufman da vida a Lucas Newsome, un nuevo agente de la CIA que se incorpora al equipo de Charleston Tucker. / Adam Kaufman gives lives to Lucas Newsome, the newest CIA agent that works with Charleston Tucker team. 

El personaje de Maureen James es interpretado por Sheila Vand, es posible que te suene de Argo. Maureen es otra analista de la CIA del equipo de Charleston, ella y la protagonista son buenas amigas. / The character of Maureen James is perform by Sheila Vand, she did a small role in Argo. Maureen is another CIA analyst from Charleston team, she and the protagonist are good friends.

Cliff Chamberlain hace de Kurt Tannen. Kurt era un analista de la CIA, ahora trabaja para el grupo Krieg. / Cliff Chamberlain plays Kurt Tannen. Kurt Tannen was an analyst at the CIA now he works for the Krieg Group.

Otro agente del equipo es Dashiell Greer que es intrepretado por Tommy Savas, actor polifacetico que ha aparecido en Castel, House, y Los Sopranos. / Another agent of the team is Dashielle Greer who is giving life by Tommy Savas, a versatile actor who has appred in Castel, House and The Sopranos.

David Harbour es David Patrick. David es el Jefe de Prensa de la Presidenta Constance, asesora a esta aunque en ocasiones se enfrenta a ella, porque considera que su jefa no toma las decisiones adecuadas. / David Harbour is David Patrick. David is the chief of Press, who is primarily concerned with the political ramifications of the president's actions.
La moda en State of Affairs. / Fashion in State of Affairs.
Según iba viendo la serie cada vez llamaban mas mi atención los estilismos del personaje de Charleston. Looks sencillo pero muy elegantes y perfectos para ir a la oficina como toda una ejecutiva. / As I was getting involve with the show the looks of the character of Charleston started to call my attenion. Simple looks but very elegant and perfect to go to the office as a great Director. 

Eso es lo que hizo el personaje de Charleston, que me fijara en los looks y por tanto que decidiera escribir este post. Pero no solo los estilismos del personaje de Charleston son interesantes, los de ella destacan mas porque es la protagonista de la serie, nada mas. / That is what Charleston character make me look at, and so why I had decides to write this post. But not only the looks of Charleston are great but all the characters does too, hers highlight more because is the main character of the show.
El vestuario que lleva Katherine Heigl para el primer capitulo de la serie lo escoge su propia estilista Tanya Gill, pero para el resto la diseñadora de vestuario es Victoria Auth. / The wardrobe of Katherine Heigl for the show is made by her personal stylist Tanya Gill for the pilot, and Costume Designer Victoria Auth took over the series.

1. El estilo de Charleston. / Charleston's style.
La protagonista pasa de estilismos actos para una mujer de negocios a otros mas relajados donde priman las camisas y los pantalones. / The protagonist goes with stylish bussiness woman looks to other more relaxed where highlight shirts and pants.



Charleston tiene tres estilos claros: uno es el que lleva cuando va a ver a la Presidenta, sobrio, serio, sofisticado pero con mucho glamour y elegancia. / Charleston has three style looks: One is when she goes briefs the President Costance, which is moderate, serious, sophisticated pleanty of glamour and elegance.



La estilista encargada del vestuario de Charleston en el primer capitulo, Tanya Gill, nos cuenta algunos de sus secretos. "El vestido rosa palo con color-block en negro en los lateres de Fendi le da un aire sibliminar haciendo ver el lado rebelde del personaje. El resto del atuendo esta compuesto por una chaqueta de cuero de Ferragamo, bolso de Fendi, zapatos de Saint Laurent y joyas de Ippolita. / In charge of Charleston wardobre's at the plot was Tanya Grill, she told us few of her secrets: "the pale pink and black color-block dress by Fendi gives a subliminal nod to the characters dark side. Heigl's outfit was made complete with a Ferragamo leather jacket and accessories which included jewelry by Ippolita, a Peek A Boo bag by Fendi and shoes by Saint Laurent.



El segundo es cuando se reune con su equipo en las oficinas de la CIA, un look mas relajado pero muy de oficina, en el que las camisetas y camisas son su fondo de armario. Podemos decir que este es su look basico. / The second is when she meets with her team at the CIA offices, a relaxed look basically to go to the office, there shirt and t-shirts are her must have. We can say is her basic look. 






El tercero es cuando acude a los eventos, o cenas de gala. Alli priman las telas ricas como el encaje o mas color. Podemos darnos cuenta de estos estilismos por como lleva los ojos pintados, mucho mas fuertes. / The third one is when she attends to special events of state dinners. There highlight the rich fabrics as lace or more color. We can identify them with her make-up, her eyes are stronger.

2. El estilo de Constance Payton. / The style of Constance Payton.
Fue la estilista Melania Root quien diseño el vestuario del primer capitulo de la serie, y quien estableció el estilo de la presidenta de los Estados Unidos, Constance Payton.  Root cuenta a la NBC como se decidió: "Me encanto trabajar con Alfre Woodard (Constance Payton), ella trabaja como yo lo hago." Cuando ambas se conocieron, justo tres días antes del inicio del rodaje, ambas construyeron al personaje y su estilo. / It was the Costume Designer Melina Root who designed the pilot, and she did establish the look of the president of the United States, Constance Payton. Root tell to the NBC how it was set: "I really loved working with Alfre (Constance Payton), she works the same way I do.” When both met, three days before shooting, they developed the character and her look together.

Root sigue contando: "Tuvimos varias discusiones entorno al personaje. Decidimos que Constance provenia de una familia de militares, una casa muy familiar. Ella tienia un sentido del deber y el servicio hacia su pais. Su ropa refleja que proviene de una familia acostumbrada a llevar uniformes". / Root keep telling: “We had a lot of discussions about the character. We determined that Constance came from a military family, a really structured household. She had a sense of duty and service to her country. Her clothes reflect a cleanness that derives from being in a family that is used to wearing uniforms.”


La primera idea era fijarse en los estilismos de las Primeras Damas, porque el personaje era pionero. Pero como se trataba de un personaje seguro de si mismo, por su poder y habilidades pensaron que era mejor que vistiera como le apeteciera. "Quería que llevara tonos calidos y suaves, para que pareciera que brillaba detrás de la ventana del Despacho Oval. Ella es fuerta y elegante pero no queriamos vestidos agresivos ni poderosos", comenta Root. / The first ideas was to copy First Ladies style, because it was a pioneer character. But she was confident enough in her strength and her ability that she could dress as she wanted. "I specifically wanted warmer, pale tones for her costume so that she would appear glowing and god-lilke against the Oval Office windows. She’s strong and elegant, but not aggressively or ‘powerfully’ dressed,” Root said.
El ejemplo perfecto esta en una atuendo que lleva Constance con una chaqueta rosa palo y un vestido en color crema. / The perfect example is in an outfit made by a tailored pale pink jaclet and a cream dress.

De ahi que el vestuario de Constance Payton sea sobrio, discreto pero elegante. / Therefore Constance's wardrobe is sober, discreet but elegant.


"Nuestro principal problema era el calzado que iba a llevar Constance." nos cuenta Root. "Alfre no puede llevar tacones. Probamos con cuñas, bailarinas, mocasines, incluso zuecos. Alfre Woodard queria llevar zuecos, me argumento que como su personaje era el lider de los paises libres, podia llevar lo que quisiera. Pero le explique que no podia, paraceria ser un error de vestuario." / "Our main issue was about Constance's shoes" tells Root "Alfre can’t wear heels, so we tried a variety of wedges, flats, brogues, even some clogs. Woodard wanted to wear clogs, she thought as leader of the free world, she can wear what she wants. I explained that you can’t wear clogs in the pilot. It will look like a costume mistake". 

3. El armario de Maureen James. / The closet of Maureen James. 
A pesar de que el personaje de Maureen es un personaje de segundo plano, sus estilismos son dignos de mencionar. Ciertamente, la serie cuida mucho los looks de los actores, de ellos también. / Even if Maureen character is a support character, her looks have to be mention. The show cares carefully the looks of the actors, the boys looks too.


Maureen es mas discreta pero tiene looks de escándalo, es mas, ella misma es el antojo de varios de sus compañeros./ Maureen is more discree but she wears gorgeous looks, plus she also is the whim of her coworkers.

Sus estilismos son mas ponibles, mas del día a día, por ello escogen firmas mas asequibles como French Connection, Banana Republic, The Limited, 6 pm, que combina con otras mas caras como Rebecca Taylor, Vince, o Diane Von Fusterbeng. / Her looks are more warble, more every day looks. She wears more affordable brands such as French Connection, Banana Republic, The Limited, 6 pm, she match with others more expensive such as Rebecca Taylor, Vince, or Diane Von Fusterbeng.

La serie es apta para amantes de la intriga que sepan apreciar los juegos de la CIA y el FBI, y que con segundas puedan disfrutar de los estilismos de todos los personajes. Por lo demas, nos quedamos esperando a ver si la NBC decide rodar la segunda temporada, pero habra que esprerar hasta Mayo para saberlo. / The show is great for lovers of thrillers and intrigue, that loves the games of the CIA and the FBI, and that can enjoy the looks of the characters. For the rest, we would have to wait until the NBC decide or not to bet for a second season, that would be decide in May. So let's wait and see.
