Summer: the white breeze

El blanco es el color del verano, de la pureza, de la inocencia, de la limpieza, de la calma y de la tranquilidad. Es chic, estiloso, elegante y esta muy presente en la moda veraniega. "Quien no tenga un vestido blanco en su armario que hable ahora o calle para siempre", podríamos decir. / White is the color of summer, of purity, of chastity, of innocence, of cleanliness, of calm, and of serenity. Is chic, stylish, elegant and is very present in summer fashion. "Who doesn't got a white dress in her closet should speak now or shut up forever", we could say.


El blanco en la historia de la moda. / White in fashion history. 
Entre 1890 y1950 la clase alta, utilizaba el color blanco para jugar al tenis y otros deportes en sus clubs sociales de verano. Cuando la clase media empezó a acudir a esos mismos clubs, el color blanco se generalizo y paso a ocupar un lugar importante en la moda de verano. Desde entonces nació una regla curiosa en el mundo de la moda: "el blanco solo se puede utilizar desde Semana Santa hasta principios de Septiembre". / Between 1890 and 1950 the upper-middle class, wore white to play tennis and other sports at the country clubs in summer. When the middle class started to join those clubs, white color started to spread and got an important spot in summer fashion. Since then was born an bizarre rule in fashion: "white can only be use during Easter to Labor day".


Analizando la historia de la moda, el blanco se ha asociado, también, a fiestas glamurosas. Una de las mas conocida es la fiesta blanca de Puff Daddy (Sean Combs) que se celebra anualmente, desde 1998, en Los Angeles, Southamptons o St. Tropez.  Pero son otros muchos los que organizan fiestas en las que la etiqueta es el blanco, lugares como los Hamptons, Malibu, Ibiza, Marbella, St. Tropez, etc celebran cientos de fiestas del mismo estilo todos los años. / Looking at fashion history, white is associated to glamorous parties. One of the most popular is Puff Daddy (Sean Combs) white party that holds each year, since 1998, in Los Angeles, Southamptons of St. Tropez. But many others organize parties where the dress code is white, places such  Hamptons, Malubu, Ibiza, Marbella, St. Tropez, etc are the stage of hundreds of parties of this style every year.





Porque el blanco es para el verano? / Why white is for summer?
Si nos hacemos esta pregunta tenemos que acudir al mundo científico para obtener una respuesta: el color blanco rebota la luz y aborde menos el calor. / If we make that question, we should go to the scientific world to get an answer: white bounces light and absorbs less heat.


Dejando la ciencia de lado, en moda en verano las telas que mas se utilizan son el lino, la seda, el crochet, porque son mas fesquitas que el resto y hacen mas llevadoras las altas temperaturas. - Vestir de blanco es todo un riesgo; si se te manchas, no habrá quien no lo note. / Wearing white is a challenge; if you get a stain, everyone will notice.

- Hay que tener mucho cuidado con lo que llevas debajo porque se transparenta y mucho. La ropa interior de colores o blanca queda descartada, la única excepción que te puedes permitir es ponerte un sujetador negro, una tendencia que estuvo de moda hace algunos años gracias al estilismo de Sexo en Nueva York, y que no esta obsoleta. Los tonos por los que debes optar son el maquillaje y similares. / You have to be very careful of what you wear underneath, it shows a lot. - Elige el tono de blanco apropiado el color de tu piel. Si tu piel es muy clarita busca el típico blanco, si brilla un poco mejor. Si es bronce u oliva, busca un blanco crudo. Si es negra, un blanco clásico o crema sera tu mejor aliado. Si tu piel es marrón oscura o con matices dorados tu mejor blanco es el marfil o el crema. Sino sabes verlo, es muy sencillo, cuando haya luz del sol directa, acerca una hoja de papel blanca a tu brazo. / Chose the most proper white to your skin color. If your skin is clear look for the tipic white, if it shine even better. If is bronze or olive, look for a cream white. If is black, a classic white or cream will be perfect. If you skin is dark brown or has golden shades the best is ivory white or cream. If you don't know what is your skin color, is very simple, when you have direct sun light, approach a white shit of paper to your arm.




- Si quieres llevar el blanco a la oficina, busca prendas recatadas, ya que, por lo general, las prendas en blanco suelen ser demasiado casuales, y sexys. / If you want to wear white to the office, look for modest clothing, in general white garments are too casual and sexy.




- Es muy importante el tono de calzado que te pongas con un look total en blanco. Si eres atrevida y te gusta llamar la atención, escoge un zapato de tacón rojo. Queda muy chic y estiloso si te atreves con un zapato azul klein. Un clásico de fiesta es el plateado, el bronce o el dorado, queda de lo mas elegante, e incluso son perfectos para el día. El marrón, el camel y el gris, son ideales para un look mas despreocupado. / Is very important the footwear color you chose to wear with white. If you are wild and daring chose a red pair of heels. Blue klein sandals look chic and stylish. A party classic is silver, bronze or gold, they are very elegant and they also look perfect for the day. Brow, camel and grey are cool for a free-and-easy look.




- La idea del look en blanco es no recargarlo demasiado. Pontelo con accesorios poco llamativos, o discretos, la idea es que se centren todas las miradas en el blanco, no en los accesorios. / The idea of a white look is not to overdocorate it.
