The building of the main branch of the "Banco de la Nacion Argentina" faces the Plaza de Mayo and is located a mere metres from the Casa Rosada (House of Government). The current building of the bank opened its doors on the 21st of July 1944. It was built by Argentine architect Alejandro Bustillo. It has an immense dome that spans over 50 metres in diameter, and the building as a whole, occupies the whole block. It has 9 different levels: 3 underground floors, the ground floor, 4 storeys and a gambrel roof.
The building has a sort of symmetry with the building just in front of it, that was also built by architect Bustillo. That is the building where the offices of the SIDE (the Argentine Intelligence and Secret Services) are located. This can be seen in the first and the fifth photograph below.
