Cómo decorar la chimenea para el invierno/ How to style your fireplace for the winter

Hace dos años ya que empezamos con la reforma de la casa. Fue durante ese invierno, cuando vi un escaparate lleno de troncos decorados con pan de oro. Entonces ya teníamos claro que la chimenea se quedaba en el salón. Así que hice un apunte mental y me dije, tengo que encontrar un leñero bonito para colocar unos troncos y dorarlos.

We started our home makeover two years ago. I saw an awesome shop window with gilded trunks. At that time we already knew our living room was going to have a fireplace, so I thought I was going to put there some trunks and gilded them.

Entre las miles de fotografías de inspiración para la casa recopiladas en mi tablero de Pinterest, hay una con un revistero mid centuri reconvertido a leñero que me encanta. Estuve buscando mucho tiempo un revistero igual, pero no encontraba nada parecido a un precio razonable y que no tuviera que traer desde el otro lado del Atlántico. Hasta este verano. En la Maison du Monde había un revistero exacto. Así que sin pensarlo dos veces lo compré.

Among the thousand of pictures collected on my Pinterest board as inspiration for the house, I had one with a mid-century magazine rack reconverted in a truck rack I love. I searched for a long time the same magazine rack, but I couldn't find an affordable version not coming oversea. Until last summer, when I found one at the Maison du Monde. I bought immediately.

Ya solo había que encontrar las troncos. Esto se lo tengo que agradecer a Pablo, un conseguidor de cosas nato. Tú le pides algo y él se pone manos a la obra y lo encuentra. Además de ser un organizador de eventos increible, pero esta es otra historia.

So the only thing needed from that time were trucks. I have to thank Pablo, an achiever. You only have to say him you need something and he instantly thinks how to get it. He also has a secret talent for the event coordination, but that's another story...

Una vez que barnizamos los troncos y los cortamos (más bien el pobre Pablo los cortó :)), solo quedaba la parte de dorarlos. Para hacerlo utilicé pan de oro falso (más barato y fácil de manejar) y lo pegué con mod podge, poco ortodoxo, pero efectivo, jeje. Y este que veis es el resultado.

We varnish and cut the trucks (Well, Pablo cut the trucks, I mean :)) The only pending was to gild them. I used faux gold foil (more affordable and easier to work with) and I glued it with mod podge, not very orthodox, but effective, hehe. And this is the result.

Estoy tan contenta con mi nuevo leñero y sus troncos dorados, que no puedo esperar a colocar el resto de la decoración navideña para la chimenea. En cuanto la tenga, os la enseño...
