The "Floralis Genérica", is an enormous sculpture, made out of stainless steel and aluminum, in the shape of a flower. It is located in the middle of Plaza de Las Naciones Unidas, on Avenida Figueroa Alcorta. It was presented to the city by its creator, architect Eduardo Catalano, and it was put in place in 2002. It counts with a mechanism that allows the petals to open during the morning and close at night, once the light has gone. The structure is 23 metres high, with a diameter that varies: 32 metres when the petals are open and 16 metres when they are closed. During four nights of the year, the flower remains open (21st of September, 25th of May, 24th of December and 31st of December)
La "Floralis Genérica", es una enorme escultura de acero inoxidable y aluminio, con forma de flor, que se encuentra emplazada en la Plaza de Las Naciones Unidas, sobre avenida Figueroa Alcorta. Fue obsequiada a la ciudad por su creador, el arquitecto Eduardo Catalano e inaugurada el el año 2002. Por un mecanismo integrado los pétalos se abren por las mañanas y se cierran por la noche. La estructura tiene una altura de 23 metros y su diámetro varía según esten los pétalos abiertos (32 metros) o cerrados (16 metros). Solo son 4 las noches del año durante la cual permanece completamente abierta (21 de septiembre, 25 de mayo, 24 de diciembre y 31 de diciembre).
