It is pleasure for me introduce to all of you a handsome singer, he is Mikel Hennet. He was born in 1983 in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife). He has always been closely linked to the world of music, he studied drama, music and he graduated from the University of Southampton (United Kingdom) with a BA (Hons) in Media Communications.
- Mikel, thank you so much for giving us (both my readers and your fans) this opportunity to know you much better.
- So, tell us… How is Mikel Hennet, D’Nash singer? Was there anything before creating the band?
- I am a happy person who likes to smile, enjoy every single thing that life brings to me. I live every stage in my life pretty intensely. I enjoy learning from everything and everyone. I am also pretty naïve,cheerful and a really empathic person… responsible, very professional and committed with people and jobs. I believe in human kindness. Being happy problems don’t affect me so much!!
At the early age of 6 years old, I started to do things related to drama. I have participated in musicals, cinema, ads, I have worked in everything you can imagine (cashier, waiter, commercial, wearing a chicken costume on KFC, teacher, etc etc) and all those things have given many good things. I had the chance to live in England for almost 4 years where I graduated from Media Communications.
- We are currently having a break, we dont have reasons to fall apart, we three get along pretty well each other (we are and we will always be friends). Although work is not good for everyone, we wanted to do others things, live new experiences, continue making dreams true too and keeping on being happy. It is so wonderful when you are still a part of your mates’ personal and professional success….
- I remember tons of them. We have live so much wonderful moments! I remember those laughs, when we were so excited before starting to perform, the mutual understanding on the stage…I would like to live all those things again. I would live it in another way (much better). There are many times when you are full of work and you cant reach to live certain things at 100%. That’s why it is so good to stop and think.
- Yeah, sure. We will let you know about every step we take. We know there are lots of people waiting to know something new about D’Nash and listen to new music. We got the best fans in the world! They are always supporting us, it is so excited! This is what makes me continue.
- Tell us what Eurovision Song Contest meant to you?
- It is an unforgettable experience, an awesome feeling that you always feel. It is also a heavy responsibility but you fight with all your strength. Thanks to representing Spain and living all the experience, I reached to understand the importance of that contest. I wish everyone could find out how important it is and delete that “negative” tag they have about it.
- It is pretty complicated. There are many reasons and theories. I think that we win or not, we should have the chance to choose and being proud on our singers, feeling like ours and being represented on the contest by someone up to the task. I wish certain people of the organization change, things would go much better. In fact, there could be some changes next year, we will see it.
- Right now…What are you working on?
- I have been working in TVE (Spain National TV) along with great proffesionals until a couple of weeks. I will be touring with my band “New Band” all the Summer (next Saturday we will perform in Torrubia, Guadalajara) and in September I am starting to work in a new musical for children.
And of course, I got new things on mind, meeting new and spiring proffesionals and making new things. I never stop, love it.
- You have studied drama, music…have you ever thought in working in something related to the cinema world? O you rather prefer music world?
- I have studied drama, singing and dance. Afterwards spending the last 7 years working with D’Nash I miss acting, that’s why I never quit at all and I am always doing things related to it. Yeah, I have thought about it and I have got any interesting offer but I like to do things in a right way. You gotta wait to take the train at the main station and I am currently deciding what destination I wanna take.
- It is something that we are always asked about and you never know what to say because what you wanna protect is your life and people gotta worth you because your work. I never wanted to talk about it but it is just because my life is like the rest ones. I have sufferered a lot, laughed a lot, learned much, but above all, I have learned to love myself to be able to love in a real way.
- Ufff in everything. I have to work in 4 different places to reach at the end of month. There is no money to do anything, no concerts, there are no casting. We are well paid, no matter the latent you got, and the lucky one who get a wage is not well paid! But you need to be thankful.
I have seen it in how expensive things are, it is so annoying! How they are making cuts on Education, Culture and in Public Health. I would like to take the Penal Code and make things harder cause I want thiefs, and sons of a ***** to be punished for the rest of their lives!
- What do you think about shows who are seeking for new singers?
- I got a mixed feeling. In one hand, I think it is fine because they give a chance to talented people, unknown artists are able to be well-known. They can share their talent with all people. But on the other hand, I think people have made a “circus” around the singer’s profession. No everyone got talent, getting talent is not only to know how to tune, you can learn how to sing, improve it with experience, but the real artist is inside you since the very moment when you are born. You gotta respect and love this world very much to be able to stand.
But as I said, all related to music is pretty welcomed, it is such a shame that we don’t have any music TV Programme, where are music TV programmes, please?
- Any dream you wanna make true?
- Many, many, many! I dream every day. Dreaming making me feel alive.
- Me? Tips? You need the whole life to learn and to give tips. The only thing I can dare to say is: Enjoy, enjoy as much as possible. Fight at 100% and worth both good times and bad ones
The main word is “committed”. You gotta be committed with your work and always and above all, with yourself.
- As I said before, I am a love of the culture, I think it is something important to all of us, every website, blog, space, programme, channel and media way that bring culture is supported by myself. Every time you need me, I am here for you. Thanks to you for creating this blog and for letting me be a part of it. Just a huge hello to all the readers, you can follow me on Twitter and on Facebook
- Thanks Mikel for your time. It has been such a pleasure to interview you on my blog. I wanna welcome you into our big family “El Rincon de David”.
- As I said David, thanks to you.
