The Many Meanings of Mary Magdalene
with Rev. Dr. Cynthia Bourgeault
Friday, May 6
7pm-9:30pmDiscover the transformative wisdom embodied in this mysterious, often misunderstood feminine figure at the heart of Christianity. Far beyond sensationalized conspiracy theories or pabulum reclamation of the feminine, Rev. Bourgeault's intriguing portrait of Mary Magdalene recognizes her distinct yet intertwined roles as Jesus' disciple, apostle, and intimate beloved. Mary Magdalene's unique contributions to spirituality invite us all to discover a revolutionary path of transformation through love. Cynthia will explore topics including the relationship between Jesus and Mary, meditation, kenosis (self-emptying love), and the uniquely Christian non-dual wisdom practice path.An Intimate Conversation
between Cynthia Bourgeault and Ken Wilber
Saturday, May 7
1pm-4pmWe're thrilled to present these two intellectual heavyweights and spiritual teachers in conversation about their own beloved relationships. Cynthia and Ken have both personally experienced intimate relationships that forever shifted their spiritual practice. Cynthia's relationship with a Trappist monk, Brother Raphael, taught her how to embody a living Christian contemplative path; Ken's account of his loving relationship with his wife, Treya, as she succumbed to cancer has touched millions in his book, Grace and Grit. By wedding the spiritual and the intimate, not only do these relationships have striking parallels to each other, they also embody the relational path of love modeled by Jesus and Mary Magdalene. The most radical claim of this path of conscious love is that it's open to all. Please join us for this rare and intimate exploration.CostEarly Bird
