On December 28, the WG printed a correction provided by Debra Saunders ("Shame from the vaccine is not a cure," December 24) to update its misleading presentation of vaccine vs. unvaccinated protection.
She wrote: "An error in Debra J. Saunders' column incorrectly compared the number of deaths between unvaccinated and vaccinated individuals. While nearly 16,700 vaccinated Americans have died, unvaccinated individuals are 20 times more likely to die than vaccinated individuals, according to the CDC.
This is not true for people who are fully vaccinated, although they meet the regimen required for a given vaccine.
Groundbreaking cases, as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, occur only in this group. Only people who receive at least one booster can expect this 20 times better protection. Studies from the New England Journal of Medicine and others cite a 90-95% lower mortality in the vaccinated, not compared to the unvaccinated but compared to the fully vaccinated! This word crushing is deadly important.
The cases of breakthrough are even more frequent with the omicron variant. Saunders cites the proliferation of revolutionary cases and Biden's "blameworthy misinformation" as indicators that things are not getting better.
Ironically, his article and correction misinform the elderly by omitting the importance of mortality from the "fully vaccinated plus booster" group, which is not included in breakthrough cases and, again, offers protection against mortality. 90 to 95% higher.
Elderly citizens who are fully vaccinated, you are not fully protected. Boost yourself today!
