London the city where avant-garde fashion and trends born has celebrate during these days the London Fashion Week where designers and brands have shown their collections for the next Fall Winter 2014-15. In every edition the London Fashion Week grows becoming more relevant thanks to upcoming and the international projection of its brands and designers. Personally J.W Anderson, Peter Pilotto, Burberry Prorsum, Christopher Kane, Mary Katrantzou, Erdem, Preen and Emilio de la Morena are my favorites.
I cannot wait to see what J.W Anderson is doing for Loewe, but as a preview we can enjoy his J.W Anderson FW14 womenswear collection that take us one more time to the intellectual fashion side with architectural designs that modulates the woman body to a new beauty close to comfort and structure. One more time, the irish designer gives an extraordinary example of his talent.
PETER PILOTTO
Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, the duo designer behind the brand, are in state of grace. Just days ago sold out the entire collection for the american retailer Target in record time and the last monday showed a wonderful FW14-15 collection! Bright colors, incrusted jewelry, digital prints recreating landscapes and architectural volumes for a 100% Peter Pilotto collection. BURBERRY PRORSUM
As we saw in the menswear collection, Burberry keeps relying with the same inspiration for its womenswear line based on boho-chic. A relaxed and deshabille style where the brand icons as trench and outwear are hand-painted in a traveller and casual look giving importance to printed scarfs that blend in the looks.
CHRISTOPHER KANE
The binome pink-black duo stains the FW14-15 Christopher's Kane collection. More sober than usual -maybe due to the fall season- the designer remains true to his characteristically lines in which cut out, volumes and lace are playing the main role.
MARY KATRANTZOU
The creative world of Greek designer is not only eye-popping digital prints by which has gained notoriety and has made her brand recognizable and with this collection demonstrate that is possible for a brand to grow without leaving behind its DNA. Heraldic symbols, school and sport badges, embroidering and crystal incrustations are the keys of a change of direction collection.ERDEM
French women of 60s like Anna Karina and Betty Catroux, S.XVII Velazquez infantas and the Romanov dynasty are the Erdem inspirations for a feminine collection taking especial care on details with embroidery, silks and jewelry touches. And of course, the Nicholas Kirkwood flats which are truly wonderful.
PREEN
We though that Star Wars inspiration was a mere anecdote when we saw the last Rodarte collection at NYFW but Thornton Bregazzi at PREEN claims this freak inspiration showing a collection plenty of op art and outer space trends. Unexpected volumes, fur and a full range of colors are the tricks of a renovated Preen.
EMILIO DE LA MORENA
Velvet is the key material of Emilio de la Morena Fall Winter 2014 collection. Inspired by decadence of goyesque, the spanish established in London shows a feminine collection with a high component of technical pattern design, giving their dresses a modern touch of a past time.
