Proenza Schouler, Marc Jacobs, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Edun, Rodarte, Opening Ceremony and Theory are the brands which lead that second port of NYFW Fall Winter 2014 review. Let's analyze the proposals that have been presented....
Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough, the duo designer behind Proenza Schouler keep loyal at their very recognizable own style and show one of the best collections for the next Fall Winter 2014. Richness of textures, color mixing, amazing prints and sculpture shaping are the ingredients of a collection inspired by energy, humor and speed. The point of inspiration? A Ron Nagle's ceramist sculpture that captivated the duo designer at the last Venice Biennial.
MARC JACOBS
After his departure from Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs was focused on put all his efforts in the his main line brand, putting Luella Bartley in charge of his second line. Well, the New Yorker showed a collection with referrals to 1960s futurism of André Courrèges and Pierre Cardin taking them to his land in blue and dust colors. The best thing? Multi layering silk dresses and gradient fur coats.
3.1. PHILLIP LIM
The sun is Phillip Lim's point of inspiration for the next season. A sun with its lights and its shadows that shows a pastel color palette combined with dark tones building texture and print patchworks. The accessories, one of the greatest strengths of 3.1 Phillip Lim don't make a disappointment as over knee boots and leather paper bags.
EDUN
Edun is not a typical fashion brand. It's recent Bono and Ali Hewson foundation linked to a commitment to Africa in creating its collections promoting the continent's development makes it an special brand to consider. For the next Fall Winter 2013, Danielle Sherman as creates a collection that moves between earthy colors and fabrics block combining wool, charcoal alpaca and knit. Special mentions should the costumized Stan Smith sneakers exclusive for the show in charcoal alpaca and fur that are set once again as the next must have sneakers.
RODARTE
One of the things I love the most of Rodarte is how the Mulleavy sisters combine in their collections the pop, american manners and trash culture. In this last collection can see a clearly geek inspiration with referrals as Star Wars and that 90s movies that reflect the day-to-day of a typical american school. The geek girl has no excuse to be the next queen prom the next Fall Winter 2014.
OPENING CEREMONY
Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are the creators of wish list items for excellence. Not happy with establish one of the temples of coolness and work as creative directors for Kenzo, developing collaborations with artists and designers that makes our pockets cry, also creates collections for Opening Ceremony which delight us. This last for the next Fall Winter 14 is inspired by tarot and palmistry with the hand symbol leading the prints that since now we want to see it in the store!
THEORY
A goodbye to Olivier Theyskens? Not at the moment but the brand that hired the designer has decided to continue without the designer's name to be called only Theory, and shows a collection for the next Fall 2014 in which tailoring is the defining line for a practical and sober collection.
