He tenido la suerte de estar invitada al primer desfile de moda, "Dress To Impress", que se ha celebrado en The Gate, el centro comercial más exclusivo de Doha, la capital de Qatar.
I have been very lucky to be invited to the first fashion show "Dress To Impress", celebrated at The Gate Mall in Doha, the capital of Qatar.




El evento despertó lógicamente mucha expectación y yo no me perdí detalle desde mi asiento en el front-row. Me acompañaban mis amigasNoemí Taranilla, que vive desde hace unos meses en Doha y que tiene un interesante proyecto de trabajo en ciernes ySol Marbán, otra española que lleva varios años residiendo en Qatar y que es una reconocida diseñadora de interiores. A las dos les encanta Asturias y en especial Oviedo.
The event created an atmosphere of great expectation and I didn't miss a thing sitting in the front-row. I attended the event with two Spanish women living in Doha: my friends Noemí Taranilla, who is planning a beautiful and interesting project and Sol Marbán, a famous interior designer. They both love Asturias, particularly Oviedo.


Pero volvamos al evento de moda: el desfile mostró el trabajo de seis jóvenes diseñadores, Selina Farooqie, Saleh Abdulrahman, Muneera Al Dolemee, Fahad Al Obaidoly, Aisha A Al Naemi y Latifa Al Mudahki y fue organizado por Shaika Al Mudahka, Al Anood Al Thani y Haneen Abdulrahman, tres damas cataríes que en poco tiempo crearán su propia empresa de organización de eventos.
The fashion show featured the works and creations of six young designers, Selina Farooqie, Saleh Abdulrahman, Muneera Al Dolemee, Fahad Al Obaidoly, Aisha A Al Naemi and Latifa Al Mudahki and it was organised by Shaika Al Mudahka, Al Anood Al Thani and Haneen Abdulrahman, three Qatari ladies who are due to open their own events company.

Realmente fue una pasarela diferente a cuanto había visto hasta ahora en París, Londres, Milán, Nueva York o Madrid; sobre todo porque pude contemplar un desfile de abayas, el vestido largo negro usado por muchas mujeres musulmanas en los países islámicos y que a pesar de su sobriedad, muestra una interesante variedad de detalles, bordados, aplicaciones en hilos de plata y oro, de pedrería, etc.
The fashion show was something really different to what I have seen up to now in Paris, London, New York or Madrid. As a fashion spectator, I could admire a collection of abayas, a long black over-garnment worn by many Muslim women in Islamic countries. Despite its sobriety, the abaya dress offers an interesting variety of artwork details such as goldwork, embroidery, precious stones,...
