#Músicaparaelencierro. A esto lo estaban pidiendo en la lista de correo cabezona, editado en mayo de 1992 es el quinto disco de estudio de Riff. Lo había traído y presentado hace añares nuestro desaparecido amigo Artie. Aquí, un disco casi inconseguible que nos trae el Mago Alberto. Espero que le agradezcan como corresponde!

El 14 de noviembre de 1980 se realizó un recital titulado "Adiós Pappo's Blues, Bienvenido Riff". Nacía así esta banda sucesora del primer grupo de Pappo, que cambiaría el panorama del rock pesado.
El primer álbum fue "Ruedas de metal" en 1981, le siguió "Macadam...", el segundo disco. Ya para entonces el pelo largo, las ropas de cuero y las tachas eran distintivos de la banda, así como la agresividad hacia el resto de los músicos. En 1982 grabaron la tercera placa, "Contenidos", con los populares temas "Susy Cadillac" y "La pantalla del mundo nuevo".. En 1983 se registra en el estadio Obras "En acción" para luego venir la disolución.
En 1985 se concretó el retorno de la banda, con Pappo, Vitico, Juan Antonio Ferreira, JAF en guitarra y voz y Oscar Moro en batería. Sin variar demasiado su estilo característico, grabaron el disco "VII" y lo presentaron en Obras. Luego Jota Morelli suplantó a Moro en batería, para entrar en una etapa de peleas internas que culminaron con una nueva disolución del grupo. Con presentaciones en Obras, Riff renació nuevamente en julio de 1990.
Zona de Nadie (1992), marca el regreso discográfico de Riff con su formación original, después de casi siete años desde su anterior trabajo en estudio, Riff VII en 1985.
Sin embargo el regreso comenzaría a gestarse un par de años antes. En Julio de 1990 el grupo se reune nuevamente y llenan el estadio de Obras y todos imaginaban que estas leyendas del hard rock (Pappo, Boff Serafine, Vitico y Michel Peyronel) volverían a las andadas.
El álbum hace honor al sonido marca registrada de Riff: solos de guitarra infernales, rock veloz y temas bluseros con algunos temas clásicos como “El Forastero” y “Sube a mi Voiture” que generaron interes por el disco, aunque para mi gusto personal el pasaje más destacado es el cierre con “El Malo de la Película” con un ritmo pegadizo, excelente performance vocal y de guitarra y bateos poderosos.
A partir de ese momento la banda se reune de forma interminente con el correr de los años. Se juntaron nuevamente para telonear a los Rolling Stones en el estadio de River en 1995 y a Mötorhead en la Plata en 1996, grabarían otro CD en 1997 (Que Sea Rock), hasta que en Febrero de 2005, a pocos días de haber dado el que sería su último recital en el Festival Cosquin Rock, un accidente de moto le costaría la vida a Pappo Napolitano.

RIFF – ZONA DE NADIE.
Released back in 1992, this was the reunion album for the Argentinean Hard Rock legend, Riff. This album truly rocks with a reckless abandon and some bluesy influences. A few minor setbacks don't hurt it too much, it is not the best album in its style but it is indeed one to listen to again and again.
Guitar hero, Pappo (Norberto Napolitano) is also taking the vocals, as he always did and performs actually very well on both, vocals and lead guitar, with his trademark blistering solos and his grunt-like voice. Vitico (bass and backing vocals) performs accurately; sometimes delivering some magnificent bass lines which emphasize the band’s sound and the riffs. Boff (guitar and backing vocals) stands out fine filling Pappo’s leading and helping him with the solos, and Michel Peyronel (drums and backing vocals) does the drumming pretty well but he could have done it better. Check out “Contenidos” (1982) to see some of his best drum work ever.
It Starts off With “Lo Tuyo es Vicio” which is pure wild hard rock at great speed. It’s very similar to classical Saxon or 80´s Motorhead tunes. “El Forastero” is another rocker tune with a very catchy riff and a magnificent solo. This one moves at an efficient mid tempo and it’s one of Riff´s catchiest tunes. Next is “Aquella Estrella” that is another mid tempo hard rock song with a very simple but yet surprisingly catchy riff. “Geisha” is a very solid and interesting mid-paced tune with another catchy riff and a nifty riff and some cool drum fills. “La Frontera Inesperada” is a very decent mid tempo hard rock song with nothing remarkable but yet good. “La Voiture (Acustico)” is the acoustic version of “Sube a Mi Voiture”. It’s not very good, maybe one of the lowest points on the album.
“Sube A Mi Voiture” is an all time rock & roll classic in Argentina, with a tremendous guitar work and also the bass setting the mood. “Betty Silicona” is a fast-paced and very rocker song with skilled riffing and some good bass licks. Next is “Vertigo Romantico” which is a top speed and hitting hard rock song with constant and consistent drumming and again some good bass licks. “Juegos Nocturnos” is a rock ballad that clocks almost six minutes and in the middle it turns kind of boring, even though there is some rock & roll riffs and basis. The title track “Zona de Nadie” is a nice rock song very influenced by Twisted Sister’s slow tunes (not ballads), the guitar work in this song is pretty impressive. Finally the last one is “El Malo de la película” which is maybe the best song on the album. It has a catchy riff, thunderous drumming, outstanding guitar solos and an excellent vocal performance.
