English Version: Songs in Sunset, wind touch grape's skin and the sound of the leaves hold the time. Light gets through, that's how it arrives just jumping the bands' glazes. Small steps, big happenings are suggested by holes in the soft sieve. So that's here, in the middle of a wine field, one more of them, which keeps the grape and humans, in a perfect symbiosis. Austria has good wines, better the white than red: Vienna, Niederösterreich, Burgerland... That's why there are many wine fair through the year, specially at grape harvest.
Not so far away from Vienna, in Langenlois, Steven Holl arch. had the opportunity, between 2001_05, to built a hotel, Loisium, and wine center close to an old wine vault which were, together with the near old town street's net, the project trigger.
Both volumes, are sculptured in their outside following a partiture took from the surrounded fields: from the hotel fly small cantilevers which let the different rooms enjoy motley views of fields and old town, while they define a nice perimeter which welcome the new guest. The interior is more introverted, has a garden from where the light goes through the perforated plate; the wine center is a prismatic volume modeling as an sculpture, showing holes in the irregular plate facade, which takes the light to building's inside such as the wine plant let the light go through. Most of these holes are closed with renovated wine bottle glass, that justified the green color of reflections.
If we had the chance, we should always take a look in the old wine vault, project's seed. Not only is a wonderful discover, if not is a good excuse to enjoy one or more days loving austrian wine... Always, between grapes.
