- ¡Ay no! ¡Ay no! ¡Qué tarde es!
***Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once of twice the had peered into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, “and what is the use of a book”, thought Alice, “without pictures or conversations?”
So she was considering in her own mind, (as well as she could, for the hot day made her feel very sleepy and stupid), whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when suddenly a white rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her. There was nothing so remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself:
- Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!
***Instead of Alice, this time it was me who starred the story. It all started in November, when Francesca Ogliari visited La Tertulia del Patch for a whole weekend to make two of the projects from her new book, “Alice in Wonderland”. I chose the marvelous White Rabbit from Alice’s Tale. So here it starts my own Ana’s in Wonderland tale…
- ¡Ay no! ¡Ay no!
***Ana was beginning to get very tired of sitting on the sofa at home, and of having nothing to do; she changed channels once or twice but there was nothing interesting on tv, “what am I doing here with such a nice day outside?”, thought Ana.
So she called some friends and they decided to go for a walk to the Prince Gardens at Aranjuez. She walked by her friends while enjoying the last sights of Autumn, and a little bit of chit chat, when suddenly she saw a white rabbit sitting there reading Francesca’s last book. He looked very elegant and seemed to enjoy the day but there was nothing so remarkable in that; nor did Ana think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself:
- Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!
He started running but suddenly he stopped and talked to Ana and her friends, even though it was only for a sec, to invite them to an afternoon tea at Chinchón’s Parador. Then he rushed away until he was out of their sight.
***When they reached him, at the Parador, he treat them to a wonderful afternoon tea. The table was nicely set with delicious sandwiches, like the smoked salmon with orange flavored butter or the cucumber and butter famous one, among others, in addition to scones and some cakes. It looked like a proper British afternoon tea, but it was a tea party especially prepared for the white rabbit and his newly made friends. They enjoyed the food and the fantastic tea from Fortnum&Mason, until they couldn’t eat or drink anymore. Just then, the white rabbit told the group of friends they would have the honor of a private visit to the beautiful building. He had recently acquainted the Parador’s director, Nieves, so she would show them around all the corners and hide secret places of such a beautiful building.
Ana and her friends had such a wonderful time they decided to repeat the visit next Spring, when the gardens get all colorful and blossoming. Will they see the white rabbit again? Will he invite them to his tea party this time? We’ll see!!
¡Feliz San Viernes y Próspero 2017!***Hope you all have a great Friday and wish you a happy 2017!!!
