We unconstiously tend to decorate spaces symetrically to achive balanced and harmonious results that provide a sense of peace and tidiness in the room. It is an easy decoration technique that doesnt´t necessarily need to be totally identical in both sides. Similar objects or furniture pieces will be very restful to the human eye.

On the other hand, asymetrical decoration draws away from the mirror effect and doesn´t duplicate objects. If we go for this style, we must be careful to show the intended style and avoid the "I just threw in what I had around" effect; for which we should have a theme or guideline to follow otherwise the room will look untidy and a sense of chaos will domain.
If used thoughtfully, this style is daring and very original.
