Maricastaña , nice place in Madrid

Por: Raquel Arias (To read the English version go to the bottom of the article) Maricastaña es uno de mis lugares preferidos para trabajar con el portátil mientras me tomo un café con leche. Me gusta el ambiente acogedor y la tranquilidad que destila. En poco rato, parece que llevases ahí toda la vida... Su ventanal a la calle es el mejor aliado de Maricastaña, y hay pocos que se resistan a mirar qué es lo que hay dentro. Desde fuera se anticipa ese bienestar. Su interiorismo,  con un toque de calidez nórdica, es sofisticado al tiempo que sencillo y espontáneo, y en él se acumulan objetos  cuyo uso se ha cambiado de un modo ingenioso para pasar a tener otra función: luces de puerto convertidas en lámpara de barra, barandillas de balcones en las escaleras, rejas de ventanas convertidas en espejo , marcos de puertas y ventanas recicladas…


Paredes de ladrillo visto en blanco, mobiliario industrial y piezas restauradas con nuevas utilidades comparten espacio con mesas de madera clara, sillas de cuero, plantas y flores. La iluminación es su punto fuerte: las estanterías están retroiluminadas y crean una atmósfera especial muy sutil.   ¡El juego de texturas es espectacular!  Madera. Ladrillo. Verjas. Pajas trenzadas, cuerda. Distintas rugosidades conviviendo.






Los baños tampoco tienen desperdicio, con ladrillo visto pintado en blanco y espejos y muebles vintage recuperados…..os invito a que echéis un ojo por vosotros mismos….

The window to the street is the best Maricastaña´s ally, and it is no possible refussing to look at what's inside. From the outside it is anticipated what it is inside; with a touch of warmth Nordic style  Maricastaña is sophisticated while simple and spontaneous. There is accumulated objects whose use has changed in a ingenious way , and now they  have another function:  harbor lights converted into bar lamp, balcony gates are used in stairs  and mirrors, window grilles converted into principal mirror andwindow and doorframesrecycled in walls. Brick walls are painted in white, industrial  aeshetic and equipment and restored pieces with new utilities share space with light wood tables, leather chairs, plants and flowers. Lighting is the strong point, the shelves are backlit creating a special atmosphere. The bathrooms also have no waste, with brick wall painted in white , vintage furniture and recovered mirrors.
