2º Blogiversario – 2nd Blogiversary

Cuando empecé a leer sobre Montessori me enamoré de su filosofía y de lo bien que encajaba con mi ideal de educación.

Envidiaba la cantidad de blogs y recursos que había en países como Estados Unidos y Australia, la gran comunidad de padres y profesores que utilizaban Montessori en sus casas y escuelas, y me entristecía ver que en España muy poca gente conocía el método y su aplicación estaba limitada a algunas escuelas privadas. Como esas escuelas estaban fuera de mi alcance tanto económica como geográficamente, decidí aplicar el método en casa, pero no quise conformarme con eso, también quería compartirlo con otras familias.

Por ese motivo hace dos años empecé a escribir este blog, con el objetivo de hacer llegar a más gente las bondades del legado de Maria Montessori, y dos años después estoy encantada de ver que cada vez más gente habla de Montessori en este país, que poco a poco más familias y más maestros se animan a leer, a formarse y a llevar la filosofía Montessori a su día a día con sus hijos y/o alumnos.

No quiero atribuirme el mérito ni dármelas de pionera (nada más lejos!), ya había algunos blogs españoles sobre Montessori cuando yo empecé con el mío, pero me gusta pensar que he aportado mi granito de arena para que se haya producido este boom Montessori que ha sacado el método y la filosofía a la calle y lo ha puesto al alcance de todos.

No tengo dudas de que para crear un mundo mejor hay que empezar por los niños, porque ellos tomarán las decisiones importantes el día de mañana, y estoy feliz de ver que cada vez más niños tienen la oportunidad de crecer en un entorno que promueve valores como el respeto, la cooperación, la confianza en uno mismo, la auto-motivación, la justicia…

Maria Montessori tenía un objetivo más allá que el de educar niños, su objetivo final era ayudar a conseguir la paz en el mundo, y creo que si seguimos los principios de su método vamos por buen camino.

When I started reading about Montessori I fell in love with the philosophy and how well it fits with my idea of education.

I envied the amount of blogs and resources that I found in countries like the US and Australia, the great community of Montessori parents and teachers, and I was sad to see that in Spain very few people knew about the method and its application was limited to some private schools. As these schools were out of my reach economically and geographically, I decided to apply the method at home, but I would not settle for that; I wanted to share it with other families.

That is why two years ago I started writing this blog, with the aim of bringing more people to the benefits of the legacy of Maria Montessori, and two years later I am delighted to see that more and more people talk about Montessori in this country, and that gradually more families and more teachers are encouraged to read, get tarined and follow the Montessori philosophy in their day to day with their children and/or students.

I do not want to take credit or present myself as a pioneer (not at all!), there were already some Montessori blogs in Spain when I started mine, but I like to think I’ve contributed my bit to this Montessori boom which has made the approach and philosophy available to all.

I have no doubt that in order to create a better world we must begin with children, because they will make the important decisions tomorrow, and I’m happy to see that more and more children have the opportunity to grow in an environment that promotes values such as respect, cooperation, self-confidence, self-motivation, justice …

Maria Montessori had a purpose beyond that of educating children, their ultimate goal was to help bring peace to the world, and I think if we follow the principles of her method we are on track.
