Animales y geografía con Safari Toobs (pegatinas para imprimir) – Animals and geography with Safari Toobs (printable stickers)

Ya os hablé en este post de lo mucho que nos gusta combinar las réplicas Safari Ltd. con nuestro mapamundi para aprender geografía. Hoy os tengo preparado un sencillo imprimible que os aseguro que os va a dar mucho juego y os voy a contar cómo lo utilizamos nosotros.

Materiales:

• Réplicas de animales: En esta ocasión hemos utilizado el Toob “Animales salvajes”, pero podéis hacer esta actividad con otros animales, de hecho yo tengo pensado ir ampliando nuestra colección de réplicas de animales e ir haciendo la actividad con todos ellos.
• Tarjetas de 3 partes: Se pueden descargar gratis en Jaisa Educativos, en la página de cada Toob.
• Mapa de continentes: Nosotros utilizamos nuestro mapamundi de fieltro, pero también podéis imprimir un mapamundi de papel en d-maps.
• Pegatinas de continentes Montessori: Éste es el imprimible del que os hablaba, podéis descargarlas aquí.

Preparación previa:

1. Preparamos las tarjetas de 3 partes (imprimimos, plastificamos y recortamos)
2. Preparamos las pegatinas de los continentes (imprimimos en papel adhesivo y las recortamos de una en una)

Todo esto lo podéis hacer con ayuda de los niños!

Desarrollo de la actividad:

En función de la edad del niño tendremos que ayudarle con algunas partes de la actividad como la búsqueda de información.

1. Lo primero que vamos a hacer es emparejar cada animal con su tarjeta de 3 partes correspondiente (con niños pequeños para simplificar podemos utilizar sólo la tarjeta completa).
2. Con ayuda de una enciclopedia, Google, Wikipedia (o la fuente de información que más os guste) vamos a buscar en qué continentes habita cada animal (en estado salvaje).
3. Buscamos los animales de uno en uno y vamos a identificar en nuestro mapa los continentes en los que habita para colocar sobre el mapa la réplica (hay animales que habitan en varios continentes, en ese caso podemos ir moviendo la réplica por los continentes mientras los mencionamos o tal vez los niños quieran hacer una réplica “handmade” para poder poner una en cada continente, ya sabéis “seguid al niño”!)
4. A la vez que vamos colocando los animales sobre el mapa, vamos a poner las pegatinas de los continentes correspondientes en la parte trasera de cada tarjeta. 
5. Las pegatinas las podéis dejar pegadas para que sirvan como control de error cuando el niño vaya a trabajar con este material posteriormente, pero si lo preferís podéis despegarlas para que la próxima vez el niño tenga que realizar de nuevo la búsqueda de información (por ejemplo  si el material va a ser utilizado por otros niños)

Ésta es una manera de utilizar estas pegatinas de los continentes, pero seguro que con el tiempo les iremos dando otros muchos usos. Se os ocurre alguno? Contádmelo en los comentarios!

In this post I shared how much we like to combine Safari Ltd. replicas  with our world map to learn geography. Today I want to share a simple printable that I think you will find quiet useful and I will tell you how we use it.

Materials:

• Animal replicas: This time we used the toob “Wild Animals”, but you can do this activity with other animals, in fact I want to expand our collection of animal replicas and go by the activity with them .
• 3-part Cards: You can download free (in Spanish) at Jaisa Educativos, at each Toob’s page.
• Map of continents: We use our felt world map, but you can also print a world map at d-maps.
• Montessori continents stickers: This is the printable I was talking about, you can download them here.

Previous preparation:

1. Prepare 3-part Cards (print, laminate and cut)
2. Prepare continents stickers (print on sticker paper and cut them out)
   Children can help with all this preparation!

Activity:

Depending on the child’s age we have to help you with parts of the activity and the search for information.

1. Match each animal with its corresponding 3-part card (with small children we can use only the entire card to simplify).
2. Using an encyclopedia, Google, Wikipedia (or the source of information of your choice) we will look at the continents each animal comes from.
3. We check the animals one by one and identify the continents in our map to place the animal replica (as some animals inhabit different continents, we can move the replica across continents while mentioning them or maybe the kids will want to make a “handmade” replica to put one on every continent, you know “follow the child”!)
4. While placing animals on the map, stick the corresponding continent sticker on the back of each card.
5. The stickers can be left on the cards to serve as control of error when the child works with this material later, but if you prefer you can peel them off so that the next time the child has to find the information again (eg if the material is to be used by other children)

This is one way to use these continent stickers, but certainly over time we will be giving them many other uses. Can you think of any? Tell me in the comments!
