No sabría decir cuán de moda está la eterna combinación de blancos y negros, si será una tendencia que arrasará esta temporada o si favorece más o menos a altas o bajas, rubias o morenas, castañas o pelirrojas. Lo que sí puedo garantizar es que a pesar de ser la combinación cromática que menos me atrae he caído rendida ante la comodidad de unos shorts altamente favorecedores y el corte de una camisa que apenas roza la piel. ¡Qué gusto cuando uno encuentra el match perfecto, calzado incluido! Y qué gusto poder desterrar tejanos y mangas, pues no hay nada más placentero que lucir una piel bronceada a estas alturas del año.
Quizá sepáis de la existencia del eterno debate sobre si las rayas horizontales favorecen menos que las verticales por una percepción puramente visual —y poco acertada, según se resolvió después—. Lo que posiblemente no sepáis es que de esto hace ya más de 150 años. Y todavía hay quien mantiene cierto recelo a lucirlas. Sin embargo, la verdadera indecisión no debería residir en si optar por un estampado apaisado o vertical, sino en las escasas opciones para combinarlas. Las franjas son un print tan recurrente como delicado: un error al conjuntarlas y habremos fastidiado un look que podría haber sido perfecto. Ante la duda, recordad la máxima “menos es más”. Descartar estampados y recurrir a prendas lisas será la opción más sensata.
Y, ahora, ¡a pasarse de la raya!
I wouldn’t be able to say how fashionable the eternal combination of black and white is, if it will be super trendy this season or if it will suit more to tall or short women, blondes, brunettes or redheads. But I can assure you that despite being the combination that less attracts me I have fallen in love with these extremely comfortable and highly flattering shorts and with the style of this shirt that barely touches my skin. How wonderful it is finding the perfect match —shoes included! And what a great pleasure it is to exile jeans and long sleeves, for there is nothing more pleasant right now than showing off a suntan.

You may know about the existence of the eternal debate about the fact that horizontal stripes don’t suit as much as vertical ones just because of a purely visual perception —a theory that was eventually rejected—. What you might not know is that it took place more than 150 years ago. And still some of you are too distrustful to wear them. However, the real indecision shouldn’t be whether to opt for horizontal or vertical stripes but which garments should we choose to match them. Stripes are a recurrent but delicate print: just make a mistake when combining them and you will have ruined a perfect look. So, when in doubt, remember that less is more. Discard all patterns and choose plain clothes. It will be the most sensible option.
