Hi guys! How’s it going? Today’s Blogmas post is all about travel. Traveling is one of my favorite things in the entire world, and even though lockdown has made it impossible for us to travel like we used to (in my some areas of my country we can barely move across cities for security reasons), I’ve been reminiscing a lot about the cities I’ve been lucky enough to visit in the past. Every year since I was 14 years old, my parents would take me and my brother to a different city in early December. We’ve visited local places as well as big cities like London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Prague and Oporto! Last year, during my stay in the UK, I also visited Edinburgh, Manchester and London (for the second time) with one of my best friends during the wintertime.
Don’t get me wrong. Even though I haven’t had the chance to visit a new city (or my own, practically) in the past few months, I don’t think leisure travelling is a necessity and I’d rather be safe than sorry during these circumstances. Easy choice. But I love getting to know new cultures, art, entertainment, food and places. And to see these cities during the most joyful season of the year is the cherry on top!
Unfortunately, I don’t keep most of the older photos on my laptop or phone. My mom always printed out a photo album for each travel we did, and I love to check those photos out from time to time. It’s also interesting to see how in 2011 I asked my mom to dedicate an entire page to me drooling over Robert Pattinson’s wax figure at Madame Tussauds.

Viajar es una de mis cosas favoritas en todo el mundo, y aunque desde la cuarentena se ha vuelto imposible viajar como solíamos (en algunas zonas de España apenas podemos movernos entre ciudades por razones de seguridad), he estado recordando mucho las ciudades que he tenido la suerte de visitar en el pasado. Cada año, desde que tenía 14 años, mis padres nos llevaban a mi hermano ya mí a una ciudad diferente a principios de diciembre. Hemos visitado ciudades o pueblos locales, así como grandes ciudades como Londres, París, Roma, Berlín, Praga y Oporto. El año pasado, durante mi estancia en el Reino Unido, también visité Edimburgo, Manchester y Londres (por segunda vez) con uno de mis mejores amigos.
No me malinterpretéis. Aunque no he tenido la oportunidad de visitar una ciudad nueva (o la mía, prácticamente) en los últimos meses, no creo que los viajes de ocio sean una necesidad y prefiero estar segura que lamentarlo más tarde por estas circunstancias. Es una elección muy fácil para mí. Pero me encanta conocer nuevas culturas, arte, entretenimiento, comida y lugares. ¡Y ver estas ciudades durante una de las temporadas más alegres del año es la guinda del pastel!
Lamentablemente, no guardo la mayoría de las fotos antiguas en mi portátil o teléfono. Mi madre siempre imprime un álbum de fotos por cada viaje que hacemos. ¡Me encanta echarles un vistazo de vez en cuando! También es interesante ver cómo en 2011 le pedí que dedicara una página entera a mí babeando por la figura de cera de Robert Pattinson en Madame Tussauds.
London 2019 / Londres 2019
Let’s start with the most recent. As I mentioned before, my latest Christmas trip was London with one of my best friends, Carlos. We had an amazing time visiting some of the best museums and places the city had to offer. He’s also a makeup enthusiast and he’s really good! You should check him at @prettyincirca (Instagram).
Empecemos con lo más reciente. Como mencioné antes, mi último viaje navideño fue a Londres con uno de mis mejores amigos, Carlos. Nos lo pasamos genial visitando algunos de los mejores museos y lugares que la ciudad nos ofreció. ¡Él también es un entusiasta del maquillaje y es muy bueno! 2011 and 2019
When we visited London for the first time in 2011, my dad took a photo of me feeding the swans. I loved it so much I had to recreate it when we came back last year!
Cuando visitamos Londres por primera vez en 2011, mi padre sacó una foto de mí alimentando a los cisnes. ¡Me gustó tanto que tuve que recrearla cuando volvimos el año pasado!

Why did we think that the second photo’s filter’s border was the coolest thing? This was the first time I visited Paris and Disneyland Paris in 2012. I’ve actually been to the latter three more times ever since, two during the winter. I love Disney and I can’t wait to come back!

Prague 2016 / Praga 2016
Another trip I really loved was Prague. I remember feeling very unwell during those times, but the Christmas markets and beautiful places cheered me up so much.
Otro viaje que me encantó fue Praga. Recuerdo que en aquella época no estaba en mis mejores momentos, pero los mercados navideños y los lugares preciosos me animaron mucho.
Leeds and Edinburgh 2019 / Leeds y Edimburgo 2019
Lastly, last year we got to visit Leeds for a day for a Yungblud concert. I believe it was the last one I attended before quarantine, and I had so much fun with two of my roommates in Liverpool. I also visited Edinburgh with my best friend Carlos! We had to do two 12-hour bus trips but it was definitely worth it. The views were incredible and we had so much fun!
Por último, el año pasado pudimos visitar Leeds durante un día por un concierto de Yungblud. Creo que fue el último al que asistí antes de la cuarentena, y me divertí muchísimo con dos de mis compañeros de piso en Liverpool. ¡Y también visité Edimburgo con mi mejor amigo Carlos! Tuvimos que hacer dos viajes en autobús de 12 horas, pero definitivamente valió la pena. ¡Las vistas eran increíbles y nos divertimos mucho!
I wish I had more photos in hand, or more time to talk about other trips I made during the Christmas season. There’s so many memories and stories about each place I’ve visited, even if I hardly remember some of the earlier ones. I can’t wait for this to be over so we can start traveling again. My dream trip has always been Japan, but I’d prefer to visit them during the springtime rather than the winter. Plus, I know it’s a trip that will take me years to be able to do!

Ojalá tuviera más fotos a mano o más tiempo para hablar sobre otros viajes que hice durante la época navideña. Tengo muchos recuerdos e historias sobre cada lugar que he visitado, aunque apenas recuerdo algunos de los anteriores al completo porque han pasado muchos años. Estoy deseando que esta situación termine para que podamos volver a empezar a viajar de nuevo. Mi viaje de ensueño siempre ha sido Japón, pero preferiría visitarlo durante la primavera en vez de invierno. Además, sé que es un viaje que me llevará años poder hacer.
