El jueves por la noche, mientras la mitad del planeta celebraba el Halloween, en mi casa seguíamos aferrados a las tradiciones celebrando "la Castanyada".
Vaya por delante que no estoy en contra de incorporar tradiciones foráneas porque creo firmemente en un Mundo global y que del intercambio sano de culturas siempre sale algo positivo... Pero es que no me gusta Halloween!!!!! Es que no puedo con esta fiesta!! Odio todo lo terrorífico y además encuentro difícilísimo encontrar el equilibrio entre el buen gusto y la dichosa fiesta de Halloween.
En mi tierra la noche del 31 se celebra con una copiosa cena en familia o con amigos seguida de un festival calórico consistente en castañas y boniatos asados y unos dulces a base de almendra, azúcar y normalmente piñones que conseguirán que alcancéis vuestro "sobrepreso ideal" en un periquete... todo ello regado con vino Moscatel o Malvasía. ¿Ligerito, eh? Y, ale... al día siguiente súbete a la báscula: Eso. Eso si que es terrorífico y no los monstruos de Halloween.
Aquí os dejo unas cuantas imágenes de la mesa que compartimos con Ana e Iván esa noche... Quería darle un aire muy otoñal así que la decoré con hojas, castañas, calabazas, unos toques de color naranja, arpillera, velas y unos cuantos tarros de cristal.
Tres cosas más... La primera... el precioso camino de mesa que veréis en las fotos es de Ghirlanda de Bottoni (una tienda Etsy de la que ya os hablé en su día y que podéis visitar pinchando AQUÍ). La segunda es que la maravillosa bandeja de panellets no es obra mía si no de mi amiga Ana que tiene unas manitas de plata... Y la tercera, es que si os han gustado las bolsitas para las castañas, mañana os muestro cómo hacerlas. ------
Last Thursday evening, while half the world was "trick-or-treating", we, faithful to tradition, were celebrating the "Castanyada".
Don't get me wrong. I'm not against foreing traditions, since I believe in a global world and I think that the exchange of cultures is always something positive, but I can't stand Halloween!!!! I hate all things related with horror and in my opinion it's very dificult to find a balance between good taste and Halloween.
In my country we've always celebrated the 31th October with a hearty dinner followed by roasted chesnuts and sweet potatoes and some rich sweets made with sugar and almond called "panellets" and driking sweet wines called Moscatell or Malvasía. You can easily reach you "ideal overweith" after this dinner. The real horror show is to get on the scales the day after.
Here they are some images from the dinner we shared with Ana and Ivan. I wanted to give an autumnal style to the table setting and so I used dead leaves, chesnuts, pumkins, touches of orange color, burlap, candles and glass jars.
Three more things: the first one... the nice table runner you'll see on the pictures is by Ghirlanda di Bottoni (a lovely Etsy store which I wrote about some time ago. You can visit the shop clicking HERE). The second one is that the wonderful homemade "panellets" you see were not made by me. They were made by my friend Ana, who's very skillful and the third one is that if you liked the little bags I made for the roasted chesnuts I'll post the DIY tomorrow.
