CHARLES HARRIS: The Bible is really the right book |

The Bible is the Good Book. It is the epitome of all that is good. There is no book like the Bible. One of the most beautiful passages in the Bible describing his superiority is found in Psalm 19: 7-11: "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making the simple wise. The statutes of the Lord are righteous, rejoicing the heart: the command of the Lord is pure, enlightens the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure, everlasting: the judgments of the Lord are quite true and just. More to be desired than gold, yes, than a lot of fine gold: sweeter also than honey and honeycomb. It is moreover by them that your servant is informed; and in keeping them there is a great reward. "

Why is the Bible the right book? The Bible is the Good Book because it is free from errors. We know that it is flawless, due to its origin. The origin of the Bible is God. "All scriptures are given by inspiration of God. (2 Timothy 3:16) Jesus said, "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. (Matthew 4: 4)

The Bible is from God. The God of the Bible cannot lie. (Titus 1: 2; Hebrews 6:18) The Bible is the right book because it is without error.

The Bible is the Good Book because it is complete. If the Bible is not complete, what current or modern revelation will you listen to? Which would you believe is true? "All the scriptures are inspired of God and useful to teach, to convince, to correct, to instruct in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect, fully provided for all good works. (2 Timothy 3: 16-17) When you say that a man is provided for all good works, what is left? Nothing. The Bible says that God has given us "everything that has to do with life and godliness." (2 Peter 1: 3) What could be left?

The Bible is the Good Book because it is authoritative. Who ultimately decides what is good and what is not? God does it. The Bible is from God, and because it is without error and complete, it is also authoritative. We can choose to ignore the Bible, but the Bible remains. God only accepts what he allows. What He allowed men to do is recorded in the Bible. Jesus himself taught that the standard by which all men will be judged is the Bible. (John 12:48)

The Bible is the Good Book because it is powerful. It has greatly influenced my own life; maybe it affected yours too. How many lives have been changed after studying the Bible? He will transform anyone. It will change the way we think and the way we see our friends, as well as our enemies. It will change the way we prioritize and help us see what is really right and really wrong. It will change the way we treat our spouse and the way we raise our children. When the end of life draws near, it will change the way we view death.

"For the word of God is swift, and mighty, and sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even to the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and it discerns thoughts and the intentions of the heart. "(Hebrews 4:12) May we look at this book as it really is, to recognize its value and significance.

Finally, the Bible is the Good Book because it will lead us to Heaven. We wouldn't know the atonement through Jesus Christ if we didn't have the Word of God. Without the Bible, we would not know anything about the cross and how to appropriate the blood of Jesus Christ for our own sins. We wouldn't know nothing about the church and how to worship God in a pleasing way. We also wouldn't know Heaven or Hell without the Bible. We will be judged by her one day. How helpless would you feel before the Lord in judgment in the total absence of the Bible? If heaven is our goal, we need the Bible as a guide.

Do you have any hope of a life after this one? With an appreciation for these realities of the Bible - its perfection, completeness, authority, power, and path to heaven - hope can be yours. The Bible is indeed the Good Book.
