A través de un acto tan cotidiano y propio del ser humano como el vestir nos definimos y diferenciamos los unos de los otros recurriendo a una sensibilidad más o menos especial según cada cual. Contrariamente a la creencia popular, la moda no se reduce a una cuestión puramente económica; hoy día es algo omnipresente y fácilmente accesible a todos los bolsillos. Además, en muchas ocasiones la moda no es más que el producto resultante de sensaciones y sentimientos latentes en los pequeños detalles: desde un apelativo cariñoso hasta una mirada lasciva. Todo ayuda, todo inspira.
Quizá una chupa rosa no nos convierta en Barbie, pero sí las miradas y el cariño de quienes nos ven como tal. Una falda plisada y unas calcetas no nos devolverán a la adolescencia, pero nos harán sentir como niñas y olvidar por un día los problemas de la vida adulta. Es evidente que unos tacones de infarto no nos regalarán diez centímetros de forma permanente, pero sí la posibilidad de pisar con más fuerza siempre que queramos. Demostrado queda: no hay nada más fácil que recurrir a la moda para convertirnos en cuanto queramos, siempre que queramos. Porque hoy podemos ser Barbie pero quizá mañana elijamos un lado más oscuro.

Thanks to a daily and human action such as getting dressed we define and distinguish ourselves from the others by turning to a sensitivity that varies depending on each person. Contrary to a popular misconception, fashion is not reduced to a purely economic matter; nowadays it is something omnipresent and accessible to all budgets. Moreover, on many occasions fashion is the mere product resulting from sensations and feelings that are latent in the smallest details: from an affectionate nickname to a lascivious glance. Everything helps; everything is inspiring.
Perhaps a pink leather jacket will not turn us into a Barbie, but the glances and the affection of those who see us such as Barbie will. A pleated skirt and a pair of socks will not help us going back to adolescence, but surely they will make us feel like little girls and forget about the problems of adult life for a day. High-heels will not award us with ten permanent centimeters but will give us the chance of stepping forcefully whenever we want to. It has been proven: there's nothing easier than turning to fashion to become whatever we want, whenever we want. Because today we may be Barbie, but tomorrow we might choose a darker side.
