Sin culto desde hace mucho tiempo, fue
Museo Provincial, aulas universitarias en los últimos años noventa , y ahora es
un lugar con activa vida cultural diurna y nocturna de Toledo.
En su interior hallamos un espacio
multicultural lleno de vida, abierto a sus ciudadanos durante el día
e incluso la noche: degustar un café tranquilo mientras contemplas la
zona de exposiciones, conciertos, happenings, recitales poéticos,
presentaciones de libros de autores toledanos, y muchas más actividades culturales y sociales.
Durante los fines de semana, el edificio se convierte en sala de conciertos con
grupos de conocido prestigio en España y Europa, y el edificio se transforma envuelto en luces
de colores.
La reforma del edificio se llevó a cabo
cuando éste ya había sido desacralizado y estaba en un estado lamentable de
deterioro y abandono. Con este nuevo uso el edificio ha vuelto de revivir.
De
la iglesia mudéjar original quedaba ya solamente el ábside (conocido en Toledo
como el Cubillo de San Vicente). El cuerpo de la iglesia había sido reedificado
en los siglos XIV y XV, siendo la torre de finales del XVI, armonizando su
estructura con las torres medievales. Estaba situada al lado de las casas de la
Inquisición, abriéndose al estrecho callejón que la separa del la Universidad
de Lorenzana a finales del s XVIII. 
Destacan las exposiciones de pintores y
escultores de diferentes corrientes y estilos dentro del arte contemporáneo; su
máximo exponente es el Simposium Internacional de Arte "Nexo"
consolidado desde hace varios años y en el que se dan cita artistas españoles y
extranjeros.
La
intervención ha sido llevada a cabo respetando el edificio
existente, aplicando los principios de reversibilidad en sus actuaciones para
dejar el edificio en su estado inicial cuando estenuevo uso finalice. Una visita muy recomendable
que no os podéis saltar si visitáis Toledo de día o de noche.....

Today I want
to show you a small and very special building ; I discovered it by
chance, and I was suddenly immersed
in one of the wonderful happenings
that LOC use to organize
inside it: It was really a wonderful
experience that I encourage you to
live ...
I am referring to the Circle of Art building in Toledo. It is a renovated mudejar style church, one example of Arabic architecture in this city ,Toledo, which is characterized by
the coexistence of the three cultures: Arabic,
Jewish and Christian.
The
building has been used as Provincial Museum, University
classrooms in the late nineties
and nowadays it has become an artistic building
with strong cultural life inside.
It is a multicultural
space full of life, open to citizens
during the day and even at night, where you can enjoy a coffee while visiting
exhibitions, concerts, happenings, poetry readings,
book presentations of authors,
and more cultural and social activities. At weekends, the building becomes a concert hall where Known groups from Spain
and Europe play songs , and the building
appears wrapped
in colored lights.
The reform of the
building took place when it
had been already desecrated
and it was in a regrettable
state of deterioration.
With this new
use, the building has returned alive.
The apse is the only part up from the
original Mudejar church (known as
Cubillo de San Vicente). The body of the church had been rebuilt in the fourteenth
and fifteenth centuries; The tower was built in
the late sixteenth century, harmonizing
with medieval towers. It was
located next to Inquisition
houses, and was opened to the narrow
street that separates the church from Lorenzana´s University .
We can find exhibitions
of painters and sculptors of different trends and styles in contemporary art;
The greatest exponent is the
International Art Symposium "Nexus" consolidated for several
years : there are Spanish and
foreign artists.
The intervention was carried out in a respectful way, applying reversibility
principles in order to leave the
building in its original state when this new use will
finish.
