Cómo presentar un material o actividad Montessori – How to do a Montessori presentation

Continuando con el #retomontessori2015, durante el mes de Junio vamos a centrarnos en cómo presentar un material o actividad.

Estos detalles se pueden tener en cuenta tanto para presentar un material Montessori como cualquier actividad inspirada en Montessori. En esta infografía podéis ver qué características definen una actividad Montessori.

• Preparar en una bandeja todo lo que el niño va a necesitar y en el formato en que lo va a necesitar (ej: poner sólo la cantidad de pintura que va a necesitar).
• Ensayar la actividad antes de presentarla.
• En el momento de presentarla, eliminar distracciones (juguetes, comida, móvil…).
• Sentarse a la derecha del niño (a la izquierda si la persona que presenta la actividad es zurda) para que pueda ver los movimientos de nuestra mano dominante.
• Presentar la actividad exactamente como el niño la tiene que hacer (ej: coger la jarra con ambas manos).
• Presentar la actividad de izquierda a derecha y de arriba abajo.
• Realizar movimientos marcados y deliberados, haciendo un pequeña pausa tras cada paso.
• Hablar sólo lo necesario, la presentación debe ser principalmente visual.
• Si presentamos una actividad varias veces o actividades similares, hacerlo siempre en el mismo orden.
• Al terminar la presentación podemos recoger y llevar el material a su sitio o bien invitar al niño a realizar la actividad y explicarle dónde debe dejarla cuando termine.
• Evitar corregir al niño, la mayoría de las actividades tienen control de error. Si el niño no se da cuenta del error podemos repetir la presentación otro día, pero no le interrumpimos mientras está trabajando.
• Observar cómo el niño realiza la actividad, si podemos mejorar algo, si le interesa, le resulta demasiado fácil o demasiado difícil… Esta información es muy valiosa para conocer y seguir al niño.
• Una vez hemos presentado la actividad la podemos poner a su alcance para que la realice cuando quiera y cuantas veces quiera.

• Prepare a tray with everything that the child will need and in the format in which it will be used (eg put the amount of paint the child will need).
• Rehearse the presentation by yourself in advance.
• At the time of the presentation, eliminate distractions (toys, food, cellphone…).
• Sit to the right of the child (to the left if the person presenting the activity is left-handed).
• Present the activity exactly as the child has to do it (eg, grab the pitcher with both hands).
• Present the activity from left to right and top to bottom.
• Perform slow and deliberate movements, making a short pause after each step.
• Talk as little as possible, the presentation should be mainly visual.
• If we present an activity repeatedly or similar activities, we always do so in the same order.
• After the presentation we can take the material back on the shelf or we can invite the child to do the activity and put it back on the shelf when he is done..
• Avoid correcting the child, most activities have control of error. If the child doesn’t see the error you can repeat the presentation on another day, but don’t interrupt him at the moment.
• Observe how the child performs the activity, if you can improve something, if they’re interested, if they find it too easy or too difficult … This is valuable information to get to know and to follow the child.
• Once we have presented the activity we can leave it at their reach so they can do it whenever and as often as desired.
