About the Kybalion
The Kybalion contains the highest (public) teachings of Hermes Trismegistus, also called Thoth, the Egyptian God of Wisdom.
Many people confuse the Kybalion with the Kabbalah. Where the Kabbalah is the esoteric discipline of Judaism, is the Kybalion the esoteric teaching of the Egyptian priestly order. The Kabbalah is ultimately derived from the Kybalion. Where the fork occurred is hard to track back, but there are connections between Hermes and Moses, via the Egyptian priestly line. Moses was a consecrated Egyptian high priest.
The Kybalion is Logos, and the Kabbalah is Mythos. The intention of the former is to gain wisdom, the intention of the latter is to control the masses.
The Kybalion explains the basis of the Seven Hermetic Principles. The Universe is mental and solely mathematical. It is nothing else. Matter is a necessary consequence of the mind, and the only way for the mind to become more conscious of itself.
For those with a materialistic scientific attitude likeatheists and agnostics, who didn't grasped a single notion that the Universe is purely mental, this Hub is a non-reader. Better put all effort on understanding the materialistic world first, and find out it is a dead alley.

The Universal Grid
The Bible, Torah and Koran are Mythos - stories that people want to believe, but have no rational ground. The materialistic scientific hordes joined this group in misinterpreting the Universal laws. Scientists have no clue in explaining quantum mechanics without invoking the soul (the mind) into quantum mechanics.
The Kybalion is about the Logos. Most people who want to believe in biblical stories and scientific materialism will be clueless what the Kybalion says.
The Universeismathematical, with a Monadic structure at its root. It has similarities to what the yogi's callIndra's Net. Your soul isone Monadamong aninfiniteamount of otherMonads. A monad is a dimensionless point, and contains all ontological numbers (vibrations) from 0 to ∞, all negative numbers, imaginary numbers, and all real numbers (like pi, e, etc.). The net result of the Monad is 0 - the dimensionless point.
Every Monad has its unique identity, and that is its position in the universal (Cartesian) grid. There is no reason why one position is preferred over another position. All are equal, and consciousness is the highest order to obtain.
What might be the hardest to grasp is thateverything,the universe in its entirety, exists in one dimensionless point. The whole is in the one, and the one is in the whole. The singularity creates the illusion of a multidimensional hologram.
Why do Yogi's Say the World is an Illusion?
Yogi's tell that the material world is an illusion, without explaining what the alternative is, and that is ultimately confusing for most people. What they really mean is that matter arises from mind, and not vice versa.
To say that matter is an illusion is wrong. Matter is another representation of energy, and certainly no illusion. Matter isa lower truth.
Matter arises when energy flows through the so called Higgs field, which makes wave functions to collapse, that on its turn is responsible for the energetic representation we call matter.
Eastern religions grasped intuitively that the mind is ultimately the driver of the material world. But because it remained mostly intuitive and often mystic, it never really convinced the typical rational minded people. Eastern religions are ultimately right in their view, and that is one of the reasons that turning inward (meditation),ignoring the sensory perception, is the one of the best ways to find themaster key to the Universe.
The sensory organs are no organs of truth. Only the brain is. The brain that is able to follow the strict laws of mathematics, is able to find the truth. And that is what the Kybalion is all about.
#1 - Mentalism
The Universe is mental.The First Principle embodies the truth that the outward manifestations and appearances which we know under the terms of the phenomenal material universe, is nothing else than Mind. The material senses are not able to distinguish the truth.
The Kybalion states that the truth is unknowable and undefinable, but that it must be considered as a Universal, Infinite, Living Mind.
Understanding the Hermetic Principle of Mentalism enables an apprentice to grasp the laws of the Mental Universe, and to apply the same to his well-being and advancement.
The Kybalion states that 'with the Master-Key in his possession, the student may unlock the many doors of the mental and psychic temple of knowledge, and enter the same freely and intelligently'.
With the wrong mindset like most Abrahamists, Atheists and Scientists it is impossible to grasp the truth, and mastery therefore impossible. They knock in vain at the doors of 'The Temple'.
Quantum mechanics is the inevitable interface of Mind and Matter. But, of course, if you deny the existence of mind then you obviously have insurmountable difficulties in interpreting quantum mechanics.
#2 - Correspondence
As above, so below, as below so aboveis the most known principle of the Kybalion, and probably the most misinterpreted principle as well (because most people don't know the other six).
What Hermes meant to express with this principle is that you can grasp the whole essence of the Universe by studying your own direct environment. The Universe is reflected everywhere - the macrocosm is reflected in the microcosm. The Laws of the Universe are stored in the mental domain and expressed as phenomena in the material domain.
A few examples:
- hurricane ∝ milky way
- vortex in the sink ∝ tornado
- a neural network ∝ clusters of galaxies
- the veines of a leave ∝ the network of a river
How well do you know your own environment within a radius of just 100 meters? It contains so many details that it exceeds comprehension. But it starts with transforming an unconscious perception intoconsciousperception.
#3 - Vibration
Nothing rests, everything moves, everythingvibrates.Everyone knows this is an ultimate truth, and impossible to deny. Nothing is forever, nothing ever stands really still.
Ultimately everything vibrates in wave forms - sine and cosine waves. Any wave form, no matter how complicated, can be constructed from the basic sine and cosine waves, called the Fourier series. Because wave forms are the basis of everything, nothing can be at rest. By definition not.
The type of vibration (frequency, amplitude, waveform) determines the kind of object, how it behaves, how it feels, how it looks like, and in which speed it changes.

#4 - Polarity
Everything is Dual, everything has poles, everything has its pair ofopposites.
There is warm and cold, sick and healthy, up and below, black and white, left and right, etcetera. This list is endless. Everyone knows that everything has an opposite side, and that is how duality in the material domain works.
The Soul resides in the singularity where polarity cannot exist. Singularity is the realm of non-experience. There is nothing beyond. It is absolute.
For the Soul to develop consciousness, polarity is an indispensable phenomenon. Just after the Big Bang the Universe was without consciousness. Consciousness arises in the arena of duality via the feedback loop between mind and matter.
The Universe constantly forms thesis and antithesis, which results in synthesis. The synthesis forms a new basis for thesis and antithesis, and so on. It never stops. This is the only way to solve the cosmic equation towards divinity.
#5 - Rhythm
Everything flows, out and in, everything has its tides, all things rise and fall.
This principle should be obvious for anyone. There is nothing that continues to go eternally in one direction. Maybe it's not noticeable that something one day might turn to go in the opposite direction, because the rhythm is too slow, and therefore we tend to draw the conclusion that it always goes that way. Nothing escapes from this Universal Law.
- No mountain slope only ever goes up or down
- No one will only get richer without getting equally poorer one day
- No one will stay eternally in a depression or in happiness
- Everyone is born and dies, gets reborn and dies again, and so on
- The Universe starts with the 'Big Bang' (0) and dies in Divinity (∞), and so on
The Pauli Exclusion Principle smashes every conceivable rule of the physical universe to smithereens.

#6 - Cause and Effect
Every Cause has its Effect, every Effect has its Cause.
Everything happens according to Law. Chance is but a name for Law not recognized. There are many planes of causation, but nothing escapes the Law.
There is nothing that can exist without a cause. We tend to call something coincidence or luck, because we are incapable to see the connections between Cause and Effect.
There is even a Cause and Effect in winning the lottery. We call itchanceorluck, which is nothing else than an expression of not understanding the underlying principles.
A fundamental level of understanding Cause and Effect is Pauli's Exclusion principle, which is part of quantum mechanics. The Pauli Exclusion Principle explains the fact that matter is stable and occupies volume, and that two solid objects cannot be in the same place at the same time.
Every action you undertake causes electrons to change in terms of energy, which has effect in the remotest corners of the Universe. This whole idea might be too much for many of us. It is though the basis for Cause and Effect, and for the whole idea of chance and luck. One of the keys of mastery lies in understanding this principle.
Everything is connected to eachother, and has effect on eachother, regardless the distances. The less you are able to interfere in this arena, the more you are able to see the connections between Cause and Effect. Materialistic science is unable to explain the deepness of Pauli's Exclusion Principle. Many scientists think Brian Cox was wrong in explaining the Pauli Exclusion principle. But he was not, and the idea that everything is connected is simply too much for most brains.
#7 - Gender
Gender is in everything, everything has its Masculine and Feminine Principles Gender. It manifests on allplanes.
Every male thing has the female element also, and every female contains also the male principle. Understanding this principle contains solutions to many mysteries in life, and also many mysteries in people.
It is not allowed to misuse this principle against people, since understanding of this principle reveals the hidden parts of people. The stronger one gender appears on the outside, the stronger the other gender appears on the inside. A less strong outer appearance of gender, also reflects a less strong other gender on the inside.
This counts for thoughts, wishes and desires. This is how all people are 'constructed'.
This understanding gives the possibility to understand people better, and to anticipate better on their fears in a positive way. That is how it is allowed to be used.
