El print de leopardo es uno de los clásicos que se reinventa temporada tras temporada y aun así sigue manteniendo esa esencia sexy directamente relacionada con todo felino que se precie. Ya sea únicamente a través de complementos y accesorios como zapatos, bolsos o cinturones —para las menos osadas— o mediante piezas enteras como vestidos o abrigos de esos que no pasan desapercibidos —para las que nos da un poco igual llamar la atención—. El caso es que (casi) toda mujer ha sentido alguna vez la necesidad de echar mano al estampado más animal de todos y no cabe duda de que el invierno es nuestro mejor aliado. Así que: ¡vamos allá!
Pero, ¿qué sabemos del verdadero leopardo, de ese precioso animal? Seguramente que es elegante y grácil, un lindo gatito directamente emparentado con leones, tigres y jaguares. Que vive en el África subsahariana y en el norte de dicho continente, en Asia Central, la India y en China, principalmente. Que, como todo depredador audaz, se mueve con soltura incluso sobre las ramas de los árboles contoneándose como si en las alturas hallara una verdadera pasarela. Algunos pocos también sabrán que su esperanza de vida ronda los veinte años y que las hembras experimentan una gestación de sólo tres meses, dando a luz a preciosos cachorritos que no pueden ver absolutamente nada durante su primera semana de vida. Qué criaturas tan maravillosas…
Sin embargo, cada vez es más lamentable la situación de estos animales debido a la caza furtiva y a la industria peletera que ofrece la posibilidad a millones de mujeres de seducir con sus pieles a otros animales en ocasiones menos importantes: a nosotros mismos. Por ello: bendita la industria de la moda que recurre a la imitación de estos estampados y a las pieles sintéticas que nos echan una mano cuando sentimos la necesidad de ponernos un poquito… felinas.

Either if it’s through accessories such as shoes, bags or belts —for the less daring— or through garments such as dresses or coats —for those who like attracting all the attention—. But the fact is that (almost) every woman has ever felt the need to turn to the most animal of all prints and there is no doubt that winter is our best ally. So let’s go for it!
What do we really know about this magnificent animal? Surely that it is elegant and graceful, a kitten directly related to lions, tigers and jaguars. We also know that leopards live in sub-Saharan Africa and in the north of that continent, in Central Asia, in India and in China. Like any predator, it moves with ease even along the branches of the trees, wiggling its hips as if it was walking on a catwalk. Some of you may as well know that its life expectancy is around twenty years and that females have a gestation period of only three months, giving birth to beautiful puppies that won't be able to see at all for a whole week. However, the situation of this animal is more and more terrible due to poaching and the fur industry, which offers millions of women the possibility to seduce with real fur other animals that are most times less important: ourselves. So I would like to express my gratitude to that fashion industry that resorts to the imitation of these prints and to synthetic fur for letting us buy those garments whenever we feel the need to be a little bit more… feline.
