¡Buenos días y feliz mayo a todos! Llevo un mes (habría sido menos si no fuera porque he estado liadísima) probando dos primers de ojos de Essence Cosmetics, una de mis marcas lowcost preferidas. Se trata de las bases Get Your Glitter On! (para sombras shimmer y purpurina) y la I ❤️ Colour Intensifying (para intensificar el color de las sombras). Hoy os contaré qué me parecen: cuánto duran, si hay diferencias, y todo lo que necesitáis saber antes de comprarlas.
Good morning everyone and happy May! I’ve been a month (it would’ve been less if it weren’t for all the stuff that kept me incredibly busy) testing two eye primers from Essence Cosmetics, one of my favorite low-cost brands. They’re the Get Your Glitter On! glitter primer (for shimmer shadows and glitter) and the I ❤️ Colour Intensifying eye primer (to intensify the color of the shadows). Today I will tell you what I think about them: how long do they last, if there are any differences and everything you need to know before buying them.
Los primers o prebases tienen diversas funciones, pero la principal es la de aumentar la durabilidad de los productos en la piel. En el caso de los que están orientados para ser utilizados en los ojos, también están hechos para intensificar la pigmentación de la sombra, igualar el color del párpado, facilitar la difuminación de las sombras y/o regular la grasa de las personas con párpados grasosos, evitando que la sombra desaparezca al poco rato o quede hecha un desastre por el parpadeo. También pueden reducir las arrugas.
Primers have multiple functions, but the main one is to increase the durability of the products on the skin. Eye primers are supposed to intensify the pigmentation of the eyeshadow, even the eyelid’s color, help with the blending and/or regulate oily eyelids, in an attempt to avoid that the shadow disappears after a while or becomes a mess from all the blinking. They can also reduce wrinkles.

Prebase para glitter “Get Your Glitter On!”

La descripción del producto indica que se trata de una “base transparente”, aunque ahí debo hacer un apunte porque en realidad es de un tono rosa iridiscente que podéis ver en la imagen de abajo. Señalo esto porque si quieres glitter en una zona muy específica, hay que ser precisos, ya que si no quedarán restos del primer. También dice que “es ideal para aplicar cualquier tipo de glitter, no importa que se trate de shimmer o de purpurina, en todo el rostro o el cuerpo”.
Glitter primer “Get Your Glitter On!”

The description of this product indicates that it is a “transparent base”, although it has an iridescent pink tone to it that you will see in the image below. I point this out because if you want glitter in a very specific area, you have to be precise. It’s also said that “it is perfect to apply any type of glitter, no matter whether it is shimmer or glitter, on the entire face or body.”
En la imagen de arriba podéis ver cómo se adhieren a la piel la purpurina suelta y las sombras shimmer sin y con el primer (en este caso, son las sombras Daring y Epic de la paleta Athena, de Bad Habit), utilizando la misma cantidad. Esta base ayuda muchísimo tanto en la duración como en la intensificación de las sombras.
Me parece que el precio está genial, y como única pega recordaría que no es transparente, que es lo que prometen — aunque no sea algo que a mí, personalmente, me moleste. Vale mucho la pena, ¡así que os recomiendo probarlo si estáis en busca de un producto que resalte las sombras brilli brilli que tanto nos encantan!
In the image above you can see how loose glitter and shimmer shadows perform with and without primer (in this case, I used the shades Daring and Epic from the Athena palette, from Bad Habit), using the same amount. This base is very helpful in both the duration and intensification of the shadows.
I think the price is excellent, and that the non-transparency is the only downside — although it isn’t something that particularly bothers me. It is definitely worth it, and I highly recommend you to try it if you’re looking for a product that intensifies our beloved shimmery shades!

Esta base no es tan nueva, pero llevo varios días probándola y quería contaros qué me ha parecido. Como muchas ya sabréis, el primer I ❤️ Stage es uno de mis productos favoritos de la marca. La duración de las sombras es muy buena con ese producto (aunque la verdad es que nunca he tenido problemas con que duren todo el día al no llevar primer). Pero por lo que he visto en tiendas físicas y online, está desapareciendo poco a poco y supongo que se debe a que será sustituido por éste.
Eyeshadow base “I ❤️ Color Intensifying”

This base is not that new, but I’ve been testing it for several days now and I wanted to give you guys my opinion on it. As many of you may already know, Essence‘s I ❤️ Stage is one of my favorite products from the brand. The shadows last and stay in place longer when I use it (but if I’m honest, I’ve never experienced any problems when I didn’t use primer). But from what I’ve seen in physical and online stores, the product is disappearing little by little and I guess it’s because it will be replaced by the new one.
La primera gran diferencia es el color, ya que la base I ❤️ Colour Intensifying es bastante más clara. Aunque no he tenido ningún problema con ella y la duración es igual de buena que con el I ❤️ Stage, a la hora de evitar arrugas en el párpado no me gusta tanto. Además, como me veo obligada a sellar esta base con una sombra de mi tono de piel sí o sí (si no, queda muy grasoso), no noto que intensifique las sombras drásticamente.
The first significant difference is the color, considering the base I ❤️ Color Intensifying is much lighter. Although I haven’t had any struggles with it and the duration is just as good as with the I ❤️ Stage primer, I feel like when it comes to avoiding wrinkles on the eyelid I do not like it as much. Besides, because I have to set the primer with setting powder like it or not (if I don’t, it turns out very greasy), I don’t notice that it intensifies the shadows drastically.
Conclusión
El primer de glitter me encanta. Es todo un acierto, y por su precio, vale muchísimo la pena. En cuanto al otro, creo que me va bien como base para unificar el tono del párpado, pero no noto demasiada diferencia en cuanto a la intensidad, como ya he dicho antes. Ayuda un poco a la duración, pero solo eso.
Conclusion
I love the Get Your Glitter On! primer. I find it very useful and it lived up to my expectations and more (taking into count that the price is very low). As for the other one, I think it does good as a base to unify the tone of the eyelid, but I don’t notice much difference in the intensity, as I said before. It helps a little with the duration, but that’s it.
