La banda es creada por Yusuke Kiyama en 2013, y luego los demás miembros se unen a él. ¿Actualmente quienes formáis Heterogéneous Andead?

Yusuke: Ahora nuestra formación actual es: Haruka a la voz se unió en 2014, Onitake al bajo se unió en 2017 y Nakano a la batería se unió en 2018.

¿Quién compone las letras de vuestras canciones y de qué tratan?

Yusuke: Algunas letras están escritas por Haruka, pero casi todas están escritas por Yusuke Kiyama.
En general, los temas son el dolor, la pena y la locura.

Antes de este trabajo, en 2015 publicaste un Ep que se llamó “Undead”. ¿El sonido de la banda ha cambiado mucho desde 2015?

Yusuke: Al unirse Haruka a la voz nos ha afectado mucho. Todas las canciones de EP se escribieron antes de que Haruka se uniera, por lo que no se ajustaron a su rango vocal.
Pero las canciones del álbum se escribieron después de que ella se uniera, esas son realmente perfectas para su sonido vocal.
Y el sonido del sintetizador puede haber llegado aún más lejos.

Practicas una mezcla de Symphonic Death / Thrash que personalmente nos encanta, especialmente la velocidad que a veces le dais a las canciones. ¿Cómo llegaste a elegir este estilo y cuáles fueron las razones?

Yusuke: Me encanta el thrash metal como Slayer y el power metal melódico como Helloween. También me gusta el death metal melódico como Dissection, y la música de baile llamada Euro-beat en Japón.
Me gusta escuchar música nueva incorporando todos mis géneros favoritos, así que decidí hacerlo yo mismo.

Otro aspecto que nos encanta vuestra música es, por supuesto, la voz de Hakura. Sabemos que ella es una mezzo-soprano, pero la fuerza que tiene cuando interpreta las guturales y el cambio de registro de voz cuando canta melódica es digna de admiracion ¿Crees que tu voz es tu sello de identidad más notable?

Haruka: Muchas gracias por decir eso. Al principio no me he sentido así, pero ahora realmente siento cierta identidad. Mi canto es clásico en su naturaleza, y al principio solo podía cantar guturales un poco. Después de unirme a esta banda, Yusuke me dijo que cantara limpio y guturales, así que fue el comienzo de lo que me propuse hacer. Era difícil volver a cantar como el estilo actual, pero ahora tengo un gran objetivo para seguir con este estilo.

Estamos acostumbrados a muchos grupos con una voz femenina, pero ciertamente pocos con una voz igual, ¿cuál crees que es la gran diferencia entre tú y estos grupos?

Yusuke: Actualmente hay muchas bandas femeninas de metal, y las vocalistas que cantan guturales ha aumentado, pero no hay mucha gente que esté cantando estilo clásico y guturales al mismo tiempo.
Creo que este punto es nuestra gran fortaleza.

Aunque vivimos en un mundo globalizado, España no recibe mucho metal de Japón, cuéntanos cómo es la escena del metal extremo en vuestro país.

Yusuke: En general, el metal no es un género popular en Japón, pero hay muchos fanáticos entusiastas del metal y muchas bandas de metal como nosotros. Loudness y Outrage ahora están activos energéticamente.

Nos ha encantado vuestro álbum, ¿cómo teneis el calendario de conciertos? ¿Tocareis fuera de Japón para la promoción de vuestro álbum? ¿Y tendremos la oportunidad de veros en España?

Yusuke: El calendario de conciertos actual es solo en Japón. Aunque nos gustaría tocar en otros países; por supuesto. Para España todavía no tenemos ningún plan.

¿Dónde os veis en cinco años?

Yusuke: Esperamos tocar en muchas ciudades y países; tantos como podamos.

Cuéntanos proyectos a corto y mediano plazo.

Yusuke: Nos gustaría hacer un nuevo MV en un futuro próximo; no estoy seguro de cuándo se completará, pero también quiero comenzar a trabajar en un nuevo álbum.

Yusuke: Now our current lineup is Haruka on vocal joined in 2014, Onitake on bass joined in 2017 and Nakano on drums joined in 2018.

Who composes the lyrics of your songs and what do they deal with?

Yusuke: Some lyrics are written by Haruka, but almost all are written by Yusuke Kiyama. Overall the themes are sorrow, grief and insanity.

Before this work, in 2015 you published an Ep that was called “Undead”. The sound of the band has changed a lot since 2015?

Yusuke: Joining of the vocalist Haruka has greatly affected for us. All songs of EP were written before Haruka joined, so those were not fitted to her vocal range. But the songs of album were written after she joined, those are really perfect for her vocal sound. And the synth sound may have come even further to the front.

You practice a mix of Symphonic Death / Thrash that we personally loved, especially the speed that you sometimes give to the songs. How did you come to choose this style and what were the reasons?

Yusuke: I love thrash metal like Slayer and melodic power metal like Helloween. Also I like melodic death metal like Dissection, and dance music called Euro-beat in Japan. I’d like to listen to new music incorporating all my favorite genres, so I decided to do it myself.

Another aspect that we love about your music is of course the voice of Hakura, we know that she is a mezzo-soprano, but the strength she has when she performs the gutturals and the change of voice record when she sings melodic is worthy of admiration. Do you believe that your voice is your most remarkable seal of identity?

Haruka: Thanks so much for saying so that. At the beginning I haven’t felt so, but now I really feel the certain identity, if anything, sense of mission. My singing is the classical one in nature, and at first I could sing growls only a little bit. After joining to this band, Yusuke said to me to sing clean & growls either, so it was the beginning I challenged to do. It was hard to become to sing as the current style, but now I have a high goal to carry on this style.

We are used to many groups with a female voice, but certainly few with an equal voice, what do you think is the great difference between you and these groups?

Yusuke: Recently there are many female fronted metal bands, and female vocalists sing growl have been increasing. But there are not many people are doing both classic style clean and growls by himself or herself. I think this point is our great strength

Although we live in a globalized world, Spain does not get much metal from Japan, tell us how is the extreme metal scene in your country?

Yusuke: In general, metal is not a popular genre in Japan. But there are plenty of enthusiastic metal fans and many metal bands like us. Also, Loudness and Outrage are now active energetically.

We have loved your album, how do you have the concert schedule? Will you be playing outside of Japan for the promotion of your album? and we will have the opportunity to see you in Spain?

Yusuke: The current concert schedule is only in Japan. While we’d like to play in other countries of course Spain, we don’t have any plans yet.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Yusuke: We hope to play in many places and countries as many as we can.

Tell us about projects in the short and medium term

Yusuke: We’d like to make a new MV in the near future. I am not sure when it will be completed, but also want to start working on a new album.
