Éste es un material Montessori que me atrae especialmente, tal vez por su sencillez o por lo agradable que resulta tocar las formas curvas y pulidas de madera.
El conjunto de huevo y copa se puede ofrecer a partir de los 6 meses, aunque en general los bebés al principio sólo se limitan a explorar ambas piezas sin llegar a encajarlas. Sara por ejemplo no ha empezado a encajarlas hasta los 11 meses.
El conjunto de clavija y copa es algo más complicado de encajar y se suele ofrecer cuando el bebé ya consigue encajar el huevo en su copa.
Ambos materiales sirven para trabajar la coordinación ojo-mano y la motricidad fina, pero además fomentan la concentración. Algo muy importante es que tienen un control de error muy claro, el encaje de las piezas es exacto, de modo que el bebé puede darse cuenta de si ha realizado la actividad correctamente sin necesidad de que nadie le corrija o le interrumpa.
Nosotros tenemos un conjunto de 6 clavijas con copas de colores, por el momento suelo ponerle a Sara sólo una en la bandeja para aislar el concepto del encaje, pero cuando estaba haciendo la foto para el post con todas las clavijas me pilló!

The egg & cup set can be offered from 6 months, but generally babies at first just explore both pieces without actually fitting them. Sara has not started fitting them until around 11 months.
The peg & cup set is more complicated to fit and is usually offered when the baby can already fit the egg in the cup.
Both materials are designed for working hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, but also promote concentration. Something very important is that have a very clear control of error, the fit of the pieces is accurate, so that the baby can realize if she has done the activity correctly without anyone correcting or interrupting her.
We have a set of 6 colerd pegs & cups, for the moment I only put one of them on the tray in order to isolate the concept of fitting, but when I was taking the photo for the post with all the pegs she caught me!
