Sus narraciones tratan sobre la infancia, la nostalgia y el rechazo social. Sentimientos enfatizados a través de sus ilustraciones, para las cuales utiliza distintas técnicas como la acuarela, el gouache, el lápiz, o la pintura al óleo. El resultado son creaciones preciosistas, coloristas, melancólicas y repletas de detalles, como los dibujos originales expuestos en esta muestra que pertenecen a los libros: Cuentos Macabros, Swinging Christmas, Nuestra Señora de París, Ondina, El herbario de las Hadas, Ruiseñor, Blancanieves, Los Amantes Mariposa y Madame Butterfly. Anteriormente, Benjamin Lacombe había expuesto su trabajo en ciudades como París, Roma, Nueva York o Tokio, y en esta ocasión llega a Madrid de la mano de Edelvives y el Museo ABC.

Benjamín Lacombe´s Illustrations at the Museum ABC
The Museum ABC in Madrid hosts the first exhibition of original drawings from the prestigious French Illustrator Benjamin Lacombe in Spain. This artist may count among his merits the fact of being the author of one of the best children's books in the world, according to the American Time Magazine, although he also has books for adults including a version of the Macabre Tales of Edgar Allan Poe with the translation of Baudelaire, or the history of Notre Dame de Paris from Victor Hugo.
His narrations deal with children's issues, nostalgia and social rejection. Feelings that are emphasized through his illustrations, for which he uses various techniques like watercolor, gouache, pencil, or oil painting. The result are precious and colorful creations, also melancholic and full of details, such as the original drawings exhibited in this show that belong to the books: Macabre Stories, Swinging Christmas, Notre Dame de Paris, Ondina, the Herbarium of the fairies, Nightingale, Snow White, the Butterfly Lovers and Madame Butterfly. Previously, Benjamin Lacombe had exposed his work in cities such as Paris, Rome, New York or Tokyo, and on this occasion, he comes to Madrid by the hands of Edelvives and the Museum ABC.
