Hay una cita de Robert Frost que resuena con una fuerza profética en el nuevo trabajo de los húngaros Meteora: “Tengo promesas que cumplir y millas que recorrer antes de dormir”. Tras un 2025 de una actividad creativa febril, la banda de Budapest nos entrega la pieza final de su rompecabezas emocional. Lo que comenzó como un susurro en «In this Silence» y se transformó en una tormenta psicológica con «Broken Mind», alcanza ahora su clímax absoluto con el EP «Dissonance»,  que sera lanzado el 23 de enero de 2026 a través de H-Music.

Como alguien que ha seguido la evolución del metal sinfónico desde los días de gloria de After Forever y los primeros pasos de Epica, puedo afirmar que Meteora ha logrado algo que pocas bandas modernas consiguen: inyectar peligro y oscuridad real en un género que a veces peca de excesivamente pulcro. «Dissonance» no es solo metal sinfónico; es una crónica de la alienación humana envuelta en llamas y sombras.

El EP abre con «Darkest Light», una pieza que encapsula la esencia narrativa de Meteora. La elección de un ritmo de vals para introducir un drama gótico de tal magnitud es un movimiento audaz que recuerda a la teatralidad de bandas como Sirenia. La mezcla de triple voz de la banda —la soprano Noémi Holló, el rugido bestial de Máté Fülöp y la voz melódica de Atilla Király— crea una dinámica de «personajes» que convierte la escucha en una experiencia casi operística. Además, contar con el solo invitado de Nils Courbaron (Sirenia, Bloodorn) aporta una sofisticación técnica que eleva el tema a la categoría de himno.

En «Shadows Of Ignorance», la banda explora terrenos más introspectivos. Es aquí donde brilla la nueva vía creativa abierta por el guitarrista Dániel Baranya y el tecladista Atilla Király. La interpretación de Noémi Holló es desgarradora, capturando perfectamente el sentimiento de alienación que describe el texto. Hay una madurez en la composición que sugiere que Meteora ha dejado de ser una promesa para convertirse en un pilar del metal europeo.

Donde «Dissonance» realmente rompe los esquemas es en su segunda mitad. La banda ha decidido cerrar esta trilogía con sus composiciones más pesadas hasta la fecha; «Dissonance – My Reality Pt IV», es una pieza muscular. El riff de guitarra es dentado, casi industrial en su precisión, y sirve como base para unas voces guturales inmensas. Aquí, el componente «sinfónico» no suaviza la música, sino que la hace más imponente, más aterradora.

«Witch Hunt – Tragedy Of Delusion», el cierre es una pieza de drama wagneriano que coquetea abiertamente con el Black Metal. La escala de la canción es épica, demostrando que Meteora no tiene miedo de explorar el vasto panorama del sonido extremo. Es el final climático perfecto para una historia de desintegración mental.

Un trabajo de esta envergadura conceptual requería una producción a la altura. El equipo formado por Balázs Pálfi, Nino Helfrich, Dmitry Kim y el legendario Joel Wanasek (famoso por sus trabajos con Machine Head y Dååth) ha logrado un sonido estratificado donde cada instrumento, desde el coro dirigido por Ádám Attila Kurucz hasta la batería de Gábor Kása, tiene su espacio vital.

La portada, a cargo de Dronicon Films, evoca esa atmósfera de October Tide o Katatonia que tanto gusta a los seguidores del metal melancólico, confirmando que Meteora cuida cada detalle de su identidad visual.

El lanzamiento de «Dissonance» viene acompañado del álbum de larga duración «Darkest Light», que recopila las tres partes de esta trilogía. Aunque este lanzamiento marca el final de un capítulo, se percibe como el inicio de algo mucho más grande. Meteora ha desatado una fuerza creativa que se siente inagotable.

Si eres fan de la grandilocuencia de Epica o la sensibilidad de Leaves’ Eyes, pero buscas algo con un filo más oscuro y disonante, este es tu disco. Meteora ha demostrado que todavía quedan muchas millas por recorrer, y después de escuchar este trabajo, estoy ansioso por caminar cada una de ellas con ellos.

As someone who has followed the evolution of symphonic metal since the glory days of After Forever and the early steps of Epica, I can affirm that Meteora has achieved something few modern bands manage: injecting real danger and darkness into a genre that sometimes errs on the side of being excessively polished. «Dissonance» is not just symphonic metal; it is a chronicle of human alienation wrapped in flames and shadows.

The EP opens with «Darkest Light», a piece that encapsulates the narrative essence of Meteora. The choice of a waltz rhythm to introduce a gothic drama of such magnitude is a bold move reminiscent of the theatricality of bands like Sirenia. The band’s triple vocal blend—soprano Noémi Holló, the beastly roar of Máté Fülöp, and the melodic voice of Atilla Király—creates a dynamic of «characters» that turns the listening experience into something almost operatic. Furthermore, having a guest solo from Nils Courbaron (Sirenia, Bloodorn) provides a technical sophistication that elevates the track to the status of an anthem.

In «Shadows Of Ignorance», the band explores more introspective grounds. It is here that the new creative path opened by guitarist Dániel Baranya and keyboardist Atilla Király shines. A work of this conceptual magnitude required a production to match. The team formed by Balázs Pálfi, Nino Helfrich, Dmitry Kim, and the legendary Joel Wanasek (famous for his work with Machine Head and Dååth) has achieved a layered sound where every instrument—from the choir conducted by Ádám Attila Kurucz to the drums of Gábor Kása—has its own vital space.
