Minimal Graphic

Los diseños de lineas sobrias y estilo depurado, lo que conocemos como minimalismo, es tendencia desde hace muchas temporadas. Aunque este año, como novedad, se presenta mucho más gráfico que nunca, en un sentido totalmente literal. ¿Cómo?, con estampados lineales y con motivos geométricos simples, además de grandes bloques de color contrastados en tonos primarios. ¿La inspiración?, en firmas como Iceberg, la campaña publicitaria y muchos de los diseños de la colección recuerdan al trabajo de pintor Mondrian, obra que ya inspiró en su día a Yves Saint Laurent en algunas de sus más míticas creaciones. Por otra parte, son muchos los diseñadores que han tomado como referencia la obra de la archiconocida 'Bauhaus', la escuela de diseño alemanas que sentó las bases de lo que hoy conocemos como el diseño gráfico y el diseño industrial y que, además, marco pautas estilísticas y patrones en arquitectura, artesiana y demás disciplinas artísticas, apostando por la sobriedad de formas, las líneas muy marcadas y la potencia de los trazos. Referencias que, sin lugar a dudas, marcan la tónica general en muchos diseños para el próximo otoño-invierno 2013/2014 en firmas como Dior Homme, Neil Barrett o Jil Sander.
Sober designs in a very refined style is what we have known as minimalism, a trend from many seasons ago. But this year, as a novelty, is much more graphic than ever, in a completely literal sense. How?, with linear and geometric patterns and prints, as well, with blocks of colour contrasted in primary shades. The inspiration?, firms such as Iceberg, as we can see in the advertising campaign and many of the designs of the collection, are reminiscent the work of the painter Mondrian, work which already inspired back in the day to Yves Saint Laurent in some of his most legendary creations. On the other hand, there are many designers and firms who have referenced the work of the famous 'Bauhaus', the school of German design that established the foundation of what we know today as graphic and industrial design and that, furthermore, set up stylistic guidelines and rules in architecture, artesian and many other disciplines of art, betting on the sobriety of forms, marked lines and powerful traces. References which, without a doubt, make a general trend in many designs for the next autumn-winter 2013/2014, as we can see in firms such as Dior Homme, Neil Barrett or Jil Sander.

I have to admit that, although I'm quite Baroque, always liked the minimalism as a starting point of view when I'm creating a look, so, to this evolution in graphic terms, I see great potential. Saying that, nothing better than taking a look at the shops and see how we can translate the trend from the catwalks to the streets.
