Hay diseñadoras estupendas por allí creando ropa y complementos de moda sostenible que no tiene absolutamente NADA que envidiar a las grandes firmas de moda convencional. Hoy vamos a empezar a hablarles de ellos. Algunos ya colaboran con nosotros en Wabi sabi Ecofashionconcept. La primera entrada va a ir dedicada a una empresa de moda sostenible ubicada en Nueva York, SUNO.
The first entry will be dedicated to a sustainable fashion company based in New York, SUNO.
Fueron también ganadores de los Source Awards 2012. Competían en la categoria DESIGN LEADER
(Reconociendo el compromiso con la sostenibilidad de los principales diseñadores de moda), dejando en 2º Lugar, la gran Vivienne Westwood.
Empezarón utilizando telas de Kenia y su 1ªcolección fue producida principalmente allí . A día de hoy producen en Kenia, India, Perú y su sede de Nueva York. Combinan técnicas tradicionales, artesanía local y alta costura para ofrecer una visión global y única del mundo de lujo.
Sus productos están disponibles en más de 60 retailers en todo el mundo, incluyendo, Opening Ceremony, Ikram, The Webster, Colette, and Harvey Nichols.
We got to know them because they were also winners at the Source Awards 2012. They competed in the category DESIGN LEADER(Recognising commitment to sustainability by leading, mainstream and high profile fashion designers), and took first place leaving 2nd place for the great Vivienne Westwood.
Using vintage Kenyan textiles they created their first collection produced predominantly in Kenya. SUNO has evolved its business to include production in Kenya, India, Peru and its home base of New York. Via a combination of traditional, local techniques and high-end tailoring, as well as an emphasis on fit and fabric, they offer a global, unique view of the luxury world in an accessible way.
Their products are available at more than 60 retailers worldwide, including Opening Ceremony, Ikram, The Webster, Colette, and Harvey Nichols.
