Montessori International Congress y Montessori Elevator Speech Contest

Dentro de unas semanas, entre el 31 de Julio y el 3 de Agosto, se celebrará el Congreso Internacional Montessori 2013 en Portland, Oregon (USA).

Como os podréis imaginar me encantaría ir, tanto por el congreso en sí como por conocer la interesante ciudad de Portland, pero no va a poder ser, así que no he querido perder la oportunidad de estar allí aunque sea sólo de manera virtual, y he decidido participar en el concurso “Montessori Elevator Speech Contest” organizado por Montessori Madmen.

El concurso consiste en explicar qué es Montessori en un video de 60 segundos o menos, como si se lo tuvieras que explicar a alguien mientras subís o bajáis en ascensor. La idea me ha gustado porque es cierto que cuando alguien me pregunta “Pero eso de Montessori, qué es?”, me cuesta un poco sintetizar y transmitir todo lo que es Montessori en pocas palabras.

Tengo que admitir que los 60 segundos me han resultado cortos, pero he estado viendo los videos de los demás participantes y creo que la mayoría transmiten bastante bien la idea, al menos creo que quien no sepa nada de Montessori y vea uno de estos videos, tendrá la curiosidad de investigar un poco más… Si queréis echarles un vistazo están en YouTube y si queréis participar aún estáis a tiempo, hasta el 30 de Junio!

Within a few weeks, between July 31 and August 3, the International Montessori Congress 2013 will be held in Portland, Oregon (USA).

As you can imagine I’d love to go, both for the congress itself and for the amazing city of Portland, but it won’t be possible, so I did not want to miss the opportunity to be there if only virtually, and I decided to participate in the “Montessori Elevator Speech Contest” organized by Montessori Madmen.

The contest is to explain what Montessori is in a video of 60 seconds or less, as if you had to explain it to someone while you go up or down the elevator. I liked the idea because it is true that when someone asks me “What’s Montessori?” I find it a bit hard to synthesize and convey all that is Montessori in a nutshell.

I have to admit that the 60 seconds felt quite short, but I’ve been watching the videos of the other participants and I think most of them convey the idea pretty well, at least I think those who do not know anything about Montessori and see one of these videos, will have the curiosity to learn a bit more… If you want to take a look, they are on YouTube and if you want to participate, yu can do it before June 30!
