This is a semi-closeup of the back cover portion of the Art of #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol2 book I had the pleasure of illustrating. I really enjoyed composing this illustration playing with the variety of designs of these characters off of one another and the contrasts of colors on this one. I especially like that I got away with painting a near pink face (Ego). I think that’s daring :) #guardiansofthegalaxy #gotgvol2 #art #book #cover #illustration #digitalart #digitalpainting #design #conceptart #marvel #marvelstudios #instaart #ego #yondu #mantis #nebula #ayesha @pomin8r @karengillanofficial @michael_rooker #elizabethdebicki

Here’s the cover I painted for the Art of #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol2 book. I had the best time playing with the composition, all the elements, characters & colors on this one. Happy Mother’s Day everyone! Here’s one of the 1st concept design versions I painted up of @prattprattpratt aka Starlord when starting #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol2 I attempted a blue color scheme more like his original comic book look. #conceptart #design #illustration #costume #chrispratt #digitalart #digitalpainting #marvel #marvelstudios #starlord #그림 #그림스타그램 #일러스트 #guardiansofthegalaxy #gotgvol2

I did a ton of outfit/costume variations for Gamora on #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol2 Here’s one of the ones @jamesgunn liked. We were going for more of a rock star vibe with the Guardians this time around. They did just save the universe after all so why not :) It’s always fun painting the powerful @zoesaldana #gamora #gotgvol2 #marvel #marvelstudios #conceptart #design #costume #digitalart #digitalpainting #그림 #그림스타그램 #일러스트 #guardiansofthegalaxy

I loved concept designing Nebula for both #GuardiansoftheGalaxy films. What a fun character to explore. I always saw her as Marvel’s Sith Lord. And she was beautifully played by @karengillanofficial This concept painting shows her worn down look with her missing hand replaced with what was referred to as her new “shit hand” that only opens & closes by pulling the lever. It’s the contrast of her being so highly advanced & her having the most rudimentary replacement hand ever. #nebula #gotgvol2 #conceptart #conceptdesign #costume #prosthetics #vfx #digitalart #digitalpainting #instaart #instaartist #그림 #그림스타그램 #일러스트 #illustration #marvel #marvelstudios #gardensofthegalaxy

This is the final approved Mantis concept design I did for #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol2 It was a fun journey searching for her final look. At this point the Costume Designer, Judianna Makovsky had to make this in reality on @pomin8r The talented folks at @legacyeffects & @mikeornelaz did her practical makeup, & the vfx department led by Chris Townsend added the vfx of her antennas. They all did an amazing job making her come alive! & then @pomin8r knocked it out of the park with her portrayal of the character! I can’t wait to see her next appearance! #mantis #guardiansofthegalaxy #gotgvol2 #conceptart #concept #costume #illustration #digitalart #digitalpainting #prosthetics #vfx #그림 #그림스타그램 #일러스트 #marvel #marvelstudios #instaart #instaartist

This is another Mantis concept design version I painted up for #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol2 These were so fun to imagine up. I was trying to balance the line between having an insect influence in her design and yet keeping her attractive. #gotgvol2 #guardiansofthegalaxy #conceptart #design #costume #vfx #prosthetics #illustration #instaart #instaartist #digitalart #digitalpainting #그림스타그램 #일러스트레이션 #marvel #marvelstudios #painting

This was the approved concept design I did of Starlord for #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol2 James didn’t want a big change in his look but wanted a more relaxed rock star vibe with this one. @prattprattpratt is a rock star regardless of the costume :) #starlord #who #gotg #conceptart #costume #outfit #illustration #digitalart #digitalpainting #instaart #instaartist #그림스타그램 #그림그리기

This was the Mantis approved look for awhile during the concept design phase of the production. But ultimately @jamesgunn didn’t think the practical effects on her face looked real enough. Prosthetics are a tough one to pull off. Especially when you’re trying to maintain an attractive look for the character. I think where they ended up was for the best. No need to cover up Pom’s amazing look & performance. #mantis @pomin8r #guardiansofthegalaxy #guardiansofthegalaxyvol2 #conceptart #concept #design #costume #prosthetics #vfx #digitalart #digitalpainting #illustration #instaart #instaartist #marvel #marvelstudios #그림 #그림스타그램 #일러스트 #한국
