Los premios Primetime Emmy son uno de los premios Emmy presentados por la Academia de Artes y Ciencias de la Televisión en reconocimiento a lo mejor del año en la programación televisiva estadounidense en horario primetime. Este año en la categoría de serie dramática la gran favorita es Juego de Tronos, seguida muy de cerca por House of Cards, Breaking Bad (siendo éste el último año que competirá, tras haber concluido su emisión en septiembre del pasado año 2013), y el fenómeno televisivo del año True Detective.
En la categoría de serie cómica las grandes favoritas son Modern Family y Orange is the New Black.
En la categoría de mejor miniserie o telefilm destacan American Horror Story: Coven, y la miniserie inspirada el el filme de los Hermanos Coen "Fargo"
La ceremonia de entrega será presentada por el humorista Seth Meyers, y se celebrará el 25 de agosto de 2014 en el Teatro Nokia de Los Ángeles (Estados Unidos).
