On the lookout for cool: The striped dress

He perdido la cuenta del tiempo que hace que guardo esta fotografía en el ordenador, y cada vez que la veo es inevitable que comience a tararear “Tous les garçons et les filles”, la canción que lanzó al estrellato a una jovencísima Françoise Hardy.
Un flequillo más largo de lo convencional, un marcado eyeliner y las prendas de estilo masculino y con estampado de rayas, como el simple pero versátil vestido de esta fotografía, fueron sus signos de identidad, y precisamente ese último detalle es el que me gustaría resaltar: Las rayas.
Porque este clásico estampado de corte afrancesado no sólo parece subsistir al paso del tiempo como ningún otro, sino que además la próxima temporada Primavera/Verano amenaza con convertirse en una plaga altamente contagiosa, so, beware! (¡Tened cuidado!)
I have lost the count of since when I have this photograph in my computer, and every time I see it it’s inevitable to hum “Tous les garcons et les filles”, the song that shot a young Françoise Hardy to stardom.
Her long bangs, thick eyeliner and the masculine style clothes and the stripes print – as the simple but versatile striped dress Françoise wears in the photograph of this post – were her signals of identity and precisely this last one word what I want to emphasize: Stripes.
Because this classic French-styled print not just subsists the years, but also it will become a highly contagious fashion craze the next Spring/Summer, so, beware!
