Oporto

Oporto (solo “Porto” para los portugueses), es una de esas capitales decadentes y bellas al mismo tiempo, extraordinaria por su arquitectura, con calles que suben y bajan constantemente, río y mar por todas partes, declarada patrimonio mundial por la Unesco.

Oporto (just “Porto” for Poruguese people), is a beautiful and decadent city at the same time, with and extraordinary architecture, up-and-down streets, river and sea everywheare, a Unesco World city.

Si nos situamos en uno de sus puentes más importantes, Ponte Luis I, el casco histórico aparece ante nuestros ojos con un aire romántico y mágico: torres y campanarios, infinidad de iglesias, edificios barrocos, casitas de colores que se amontonan unas sobre otras. Podemos cruzar el río Duero a través de este monstruo de metal que une Vila Nova de Gaia y la parte antigua de la ciudad.

If we look from one of the most important crossings, Ponte Luis I, the old city appears romantic and magical: bell towers, churches, baroque buildings, colorful houses that look piled on top of one another. We can cross Duoro river through the metal monster that links Vila Nova de Gaia and the old town.

Subiendo al teleférico desde la ribera hacia la montaña, nos encontramos con unas vistas espectaculares de la ciudad.

Y lo mismo sucede con la antigua Cafetería Majestic ¡otra top!,  donde puedes tomar un descanso y deleitarte con la música en directo que nos regala el pianista.

Cuando te canses de la urbe, piérdete en el Parque de la Ciudad para dar un respiro: caminitos, eucaliptus gigantescos, aves, lagos y al final…el mar.

When you are tired of the city, get lost in Parque da Ciudade to take a breath: paths, enormous eucalyptus, birds, water and then… the sea.

Pero no queremos irnos de Oporto sin visitar sus famosísimas bodegas de vino y al siniestro Sandeman, ¿verdad? Esta figura es uno de los iconos de la ciudad, siempre oculto tras su sombrero de ala ancha y su capa negra. Y el vino… ¡delicioso!

But we don’t want to leave Oporto without visiting the wine warehouses and the sinester Sandeman, do we? This figure is one of the icons of the city, always clad in a black hat and cape. And the wine is delicious!
