Paradise es una zona 20 km al norte de Glenorchy, situada entre Mount Alfred y Mount Earnslaw, justo al lado del Diamond Lake, en el Parque Nacional de Mount Aspiring. No se conoce a ciencia cierta el origen del nombre, pero para llegar hasta allí hay que cruzar el río Jordán y en la zona está la Roca del Edén y la Puerta del Cielo.
Obviando estas referencias bíblicas, por esta zona hay una gran población de un tipo de pato llamado “Paradise duck” o pato del paraíso. Así que, ¿Qué fue antes, el huevo o la gallina?
Hace algún tiempo Marina consiguió una bicicleta que utilizamos para ir hasta Blanket Bay. Marina va en coche a las seis y media de la mañana y yo voy en bicicleta a las dos y media. Ella vuelve a casa en bicicleta después de las tres y me deja el coche para volver cuando acaba mi turno.
Pues eso, a lo que iba, que sólo tenemos una bicicleta y un casco que nos presta Anastasiia. Así que Marina hace una excursión un día por la tarde y yo la repito al día siguiente por la mañana. Bueno ese es el plan, por ahora sólo lo hemos hecho una vez, estamos muy liados con el huerto. Pero la idea está ahí, latente. Enrique & Marina

Paradise is the name of an area located 20 km North of Glenorchy within Mt Aspiring National Park, between Mt Alfred and Mt Earnslaw, by Diamond Lake. There’re a few legends about the origin of this name but what it’s sure is that you have to cross the Jordan river to get there and that you can also find Heaven’s Gate and the Rock of Eden in this place.
No one really knows whether Paradise was named like this for its beautiful settings or for its resident “Paradise ducks”. Then, what was first the egg or the chicken?
A while ago I got given a free bike that we’re mostly using to go to Blanket Bay. I drive the car at half past six to work and Enrique rides the bike at half past two. Then, when I’m done at three, I take the bike back home and Enrique can drive home when he finishes his shift.
However, we only have one bike and one single helmet that we borrow from Anastasiia. Thus if I go for a nice bike ride in the afternoon, Enrique has to repeat it the next day in the morning so we can discuss the adventure. Well, at least this is our idea although we’ve only done it once. We’re too busy growing food in the garden. But we keep it in our minds, dormant.
