Pau nos viene a visitar

Desde que empezamos a escribir el blog hace ya cinco años, siendo esta la actualización número 152 que hacemos, Marina y yo solemos hacer siempre la misma broma: la familia se lee el blog y los amigos como mucho miran las fotos. Así nos encontramos con amiguetes que nos preguntaban, después de tres años viviendo en Nueva Zelanda que cómo andábamos por Australia. 

Pero para todo hay excepciones y Pau, muy buen amigo nuestro de la Universidad, a veces parece conocerse el blog mejor que nosotros. 

Pau es una persona de estas que parece que sus días tengan 36 horas en lugar de 24 y, entre muchas otras actividades, está muy involucrado en una asociación de intercambio cultural estudiantil llamada AFS Intercultura, a raíz de su experiencia cursando primero de bachillerato en Wisconsin (los Estados Unidos profundos) viviendo con una familia que le acogió de forma voluntaria, su familia americana. Hace unas semanas fue la boda de su hermana americana a la que evidentemente asistió. Y como sólo habían unos 4000 km hasta Lake Louise, Pau alquiló un coche, condujo durante tres días y se vino a vernos.
Huelga decir que nos hizo una ilusión tremenda recibirle en nuestro pequeño trozo de Canadá. Los tres días que estuvo con nosotros fuimos al Emerald Lake, que ya casi no tiene hielo, pasando previamente por el Natural Bridge (una especie de puente excavado en la roca por los rápidos del río Kicking Horse) y también al Lake Minewanka, paseamos por el Bow River Loop de Canmore y evidentemente subimos hasta Lake Louise.

We’ve been writing this blog for five years now, this is our 152th post. Enrique and I always say the same joke which is that we keep it for our family to read it and our friends to, at the most, look at the pictures. And it must be like this because some people would ask us, after three years in New Zealand, how is it going in Australia. 

But of course there’re exceptions and our good friend from Uni, Pau, sometimes seems to know our blog better than we do. 

Pau is one of this kind of people whose days seem to have 36 hours instead of 24. Among many others, he spends some of his time volunteering at a cultural exchange association for students called AFS Interculture. He got involved with it when he studied abroad 11th grade in the US and lived with a local family from Wisconsin for that year and turned into his own American Family. Now, twelve years later, his American sister got married and Pau attended the ceremony and went for a visit. Since he was only about 4.000 km away from Lake Louise, Pau decided to rent a car and drive for three days to come and see us. 
There’s no need to say that we loved having him here and showing him our little piece of Canada. During the three days he spent with us we took him to Emerald Lake which has almost no ice now, to the Natural Bridge that the river Kicking Horse dag in the rock, to lake Minewanka, to the Bow River Loop in Canmore and of course to Lake Louise. The weather was stunning every single day he was in the Rockies. We didn’t want him to leave.
