Pierre Chapo

Por: Rocío Caro (To read English version go to the bottom of the article) Investigando sobre mobiliario he hecho un descubrimiento muy interesante, se trata del trabajo de Pierre Chapo, arquitecto francés que trabajó  entre los años ’50 y ’70 diseñando mobiliario de madera.
Chapo nació en 1927 en el seno de una familia de artesanos. Estudio arquitectura y, tras acabar, se dedicó sobre todo al diseño y fabricación de muebles de madera que él mismo hacía con sus propias manos en el taller de su padrastro.  Poco a poco fue creciendo el negocio, llegando a abrir una galería en París donde exponía y vendía sus diseños, y fundando en 1968 la sociedad “Chapo à Gorges SA” que fabricaba y vendía sus producciones.

Gran admirador de Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright y Mies Van der Rohe, encontró sobre todo inspiración en el trabajo de Charlotte Perriand, arquitecta francesa contemporánea dedicada también al diseño de muebles.
Su pasión por la madera le llevó lejos, llegando a dar conferencias y recibiendo varios premios, como la Medalla de Oro de la Ciudad de París, por su trabajo. Hoy día su obra sigue siendo referencia y objetivo de coleccionistas.
Para los que estáis o vayáis a venir a Lausanne (Suiza), hay una exposición sobre él que empezó el 19 de octubre y que acabará el 23 de febrero de 2013, en la Galería Kissthedesign, ¡que no os debéis perder!
