¿Qué es la Educación Cósmica Montessori? – What is Montessori Cosmic Education?

Como ya comenté en este post, la Educación Cósmica es la base sobre la que se construye el aprendizaje en un ambiente Montessori de primaria. El niño entre los 6 y los 12 años tiene el interés y la capacidad de ampliar su campo de conocimiento mucho más allá de lo que le rodea, de aquello que puede ver y tocar. Su mente es capaz de comprender conceptos abstractos y no hay límites para lo que su imaginación puede alcanzar.

Por eso Maria Montessori vio la necesidad de ofrecer al niño en el segundo plano del desarrollo un amplio abanico de cultura para que satisfaga su apetito mental, y no de cualquier manera, sino con un enfoque holístico, que le permita descubrir que todo aquello que va aprendiendo está interconectado, que no se trata de contenidos aislados dentro de las asignaturas de un currículum, sino de partes interrelacionadas que forman un todo, el Universo, del que él mismo también forma parte y en el que tiene su lugar.

¿Por qué ofrecer Educación Cósmica en primaria?

María Montessori pensaba que eran necesarias dos cosas para educar para la Paz: la toma de conciencia de la interdependencia y el sentido de la gratitud que surge a partir de esa conciencia. Con la Educación Cósmica los niños aprenden a sentir agradecimiento hacia las generaciones anteriores que permiten que hoy podamos beneficiarnos de sus conocimientos, incluso hacia aquel primer ser vivo que surgió en la Tierra y sin el cual no estaríamos aquí ahora. Los niños también descubren todos los elementos y las fuerzas de la naturaleza, las plantas, los animales (existentes y extintos), las rocas, los océanos, los bosques, incluso las moléculas y partículas atómicas, y entienden que cada una de estas cosas, incluidos ellos mismos, no tendría sentido si no fuera parte de un todo.

En definitiva, con la Educación Cósmica los niños adquieren un sentido de importancia, propósito y responsabilidad de su propia existencia, que llevan hasta la edad adulta mientras van descubriendo su lugar y su papel en este Universo, algo que llegará de manera natural durante el tercer y cuarto planos del desarrollo (la adolescencia y la madurez), gracias a las semillas que estamos sembrando en la etapa de primaria.

Las Grandes Lecciones

Tal vez el concepto de Educación Cósmica explicado así te pueda sonar un poco ambiguo, pero esto es sólo una visión general de todo lo que abarca. Pronto te hablaré con más detalle de las Grandes Lecciones, que son la manera de poner en práctica la Educación Cósmica. Las Grandes Lecciones son cinco historias que proporcionan una visión holística y global de diversas disciplinas combinadas. Mientras que los niños desarrollan un conocimiento de la naturaleza y sus leyes, también se despierta su interés por explorar temas como la historia, la geografía, las matemáticas, la ciencia y el lenguaje, y todo esto dentro de ese marco en el que todo está interconectado. A mí me parece una manera maravillosa de aprender y descubrir.

That's why Maria Montessori saw the need to offer the child in second plane of development a wide range of culture to satisfy their mental appetite, and not in any way, but with a holistic approach, enabling them to discover that everything they learn is interconnected, that content is not isolated within the subjects of a curriculum, but interrelated parts that form a whole, the Universe, of which he is also part.

Why Cosmic Education?

Maria Montessori believed that two things are needed to educate for Peace: the awareness of interdependence and sense of gratitude that arises from that awareness. With Cosmic Education children learn to feel grateful to previous generations that allow us to benefit from their knowledge, even to that first living thing on Earth emerged without which we would not be here now. Children also discover all the elements and forces of nature, plants, animals (extant and extinct), rocks, oceans, forests, even the molecules and atomic particles, and understand that each of these things, including themselves, would be meaningless if it were not part of a whole.

In short, with Cosmic Education children gain a sense of importance, purpose and responsibility for their own existence, that they will carry into adulthood as they discover their place and role in this universe, something that will come naturally during the third and fourth levels of development (adolescence and adulthood), thanks to the seeds that we are sowing in the elementary stage.

The Great Lessons

Perhaps the concept of Cosmic Education explained like this can sound a bit ambiguous, but this is just an overview of what it covers. Soon I will tell you in more detail about the Great Lessons, which are the way to implement the Cosmic Education. Great Lessons are five stories that provide a holistic and comprehensive view of various disciplines combined. While children develop a knowledge of nature and its laws, these stories also awaken their interest in exploring topics such as history, geography, mathematics, science and language, and all this within that framework in which everything is interconnected. For me this is an amazing way to learn and discover.
