El año pasado me puse de acuerdo con mis amigas para ver las películas nominadas al Oscar antes de la premiación. Como recordarán, era el año que todos decían que Leonardo Dicaprio ganaría el Oscar por su actuación en Revenant.Recuerdo perfectamente que estábamos sentadas en la sala viendo dicha película y (sin hacer spoilers) había unas escenas muy gráficas en las cuales mis amigas ponían cara de perturbadas y hasta giraban el rostro para no ver.
Al salir de la película todas comentaron que quedaron sorprendidas como no me afectaban las escenas gráficas y llenas de sangre.The female of the species es como Revenant pero a diferencia de Leonardo Dicaprio, Alex me hizo sentir muchísimo.Como dice una reseña en Goodreads, el libro se puede resumir en una palabra: brutal.  La autora no sólo cuenta una historia, habla sobre la sociedad de hoy en día y sobre la cultura que se tiene sobre las violaciones, sexualidad y maltrato animal. Por esto mismo no es un libro para todos, pero si estas dispuesto a entrar a la historia que creó Mindy McGinnis, ten por seguro que no olvidarás este libro.No es una lectura sencilla, pero esta llena de personajes y situaciones que te hacen sentir algo inexplicable. Es de esa clase de libros que aunque ya lo terminaste, no dejas de pensar en él y buscas entender lo que pasa por las mentes de los personajes para poderle dar sentido a lo que acabas de leer.No tengo mas palabras para describir este libro. Pero aunque no lo logre transmitir, es una lectura de la que no se arrepentirán.
