Rwanda: Tetteh rules out professionals for Benin game

Rwanda’s tactician Sellas Tetteh has said he might not use professionals for the must-win Saturday 2012 Africa Cup of Nations game against Benin in Kigali.
The Ghanaian born coach said after his team’s 2-0 win over local side Kiyovu on Wednesday that the local players had actually showed that they can handle the pressure and bring the results.
After last build-up game, the Ghanaian said that the team’s performance proved that they would prevail without the foreign-based players.
“Today, we saw a completely different side from the one that played Rayon last week. The defence was rock solid and we created plenty of chances upfront. This is a team on the up and I expect a good show on Saturday,” Tetteh said.
Commenting on the professionals, he said, “We had Boubakary Saddou in mind but he is injured while Elias Uzamukunda would only arrive on the eve (Friday) of the game - which is more of a gamble.”
Rwanda, who suffered a 3-0 defeat in their opening 2012 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Ivory Coast must beat Benin at the Amahoro Stadium on Saturday if they hope to get their qualifying campaign back on track.
In the build-up game, Kipson Atuhaire scored the opening goal on the 15th minute, while substitute Jean Claude Iranzi netted the second later after the interval.
The Squirrels of Benin’s arrived in Kigali on Wednesday ready for the Saturday battle. The West Africans were surprisingly held to a 1-all draw by Burundi in their opening qualifier. Burundi will host Ivory Coast on Saturday in the other group game.
